Re: Perma ban for hate speech

You will need to speak to our Terms of Service team @GregoryHoused.

Just so you are aware, hate speech of any kind is not a minor violation but rather a major one and has no place in our games.

There is never a reason so use hate speech when playing a video game.

The process to contact our ToS team can be found here: https://help.ea.com/en-us/help/account/information-about-banned-or-suspended-accounts/

  1. Click Contact us at the top of any page on EA Help.
  2. Select the game that your account was banned or suspended from. If it’s on your whole EA Account, choose Origin.
  3. Choose your platform.
  4. Select Manage my account, then Banned or suspended account.
  5. Fill out any other details below.
    • For example, if you picked Origin, it might ask you if you are accessing the game through an Origin Access membership.
  6. Click Select contact option.
  7. Sign in to your account that has the ban or suspension, if you aren’t already.

  • @EA_Darko Hi there, I completely agree with you. However, how come some ToS violations concerning hate speech result in suspensions, and others result in permanent bans. If all hate speech is considered a major offense, then how come some people get away with merely a temporary suspension?

There's "hate speech" in most games, there's hate speech at home, at school, even at work. I grew up playing COD.

Hate speech, in the grand scheme of offences, shouldn't be a perma ban. You have players cheating and getting away with it, you also have a smurf issue, which you can downplay all you want, but it's major issue. How is it you can report with the option of 'smurfing', but yet here you are giving the generic reply while streamers are publicly smurfing? Seems pretty damn hypocritical to me.

You also have scenarios where 'hate speech' is provoked, and they'll spam report you resulting in a ban. Be the better person and move on doesn't always apply.

Hate speech come in several variants, some are pretty bad, and if you had several bans before at some point they just turn off the tap and youre gone. Its just how it works, if youre a multiple offender at some point they throw away the key. Also if its very very bad, you might be at a bigger disadvantage, just saying.

Best is to just yell at the wall, cut the mic and just learn how to not be that guy. Especially if you're provoked, then you're sure they will report you. If you cant keep yourself in check the smart thing would switch off voice or config push to talk, remove binding for push to talk and remove chat binding.... hehe

@Zkepz So discrete hate speech is somewhat allowed, but direct, forward hate speech is bannable?

Sarcasm btw, just saying, if hate speech isn't allowed then ban them all, cause the amount of times I've reported players for saying really messed up stuff, and they kept sending PM's weeks after the fact, tells me the report option does not work.

Let's get a reply on this one, and hopefully not a case as to where streamers are allowed cause they generate money...

"One of the new changes is a new function to report 'smurfing' in games, which will help them identify foul play. If you suspect a player of cheating in a match of Apex Legends, you can call out their offense by bringing up the “report” menu."

Since the hate speech report was removed from Apex, all accounts claiming to have their accounts reinstated should be able to do so. I am one of them, who always strongly insulted those who were trolls in my matches, I was always called a Brazilian monkey by voice, and when I wrote, and I admit several times in response, I was the one who was banned on my old account. I can affirm that this is discrimination and selectivity on the part of the administration, which seems to care more about the whining of children who have the option to mute and silence, than about players who are forced to play against cheaters and trolls in every match every day, it is an incredible imbalance what you practice. You can be trolled and you must remain silent. To me it seems like the behavior of an oppressive State, which hides behind the "regulations", created and altered by yourselves. Let people self-regulate, create, as there is in other games, a behavior rating just like the skill rating.

Probably after you read this you'll be a little saddened with me and won't even consider the chance of me having my original account restored, even though the game no longer has the hate speech reporting feature, you won't even want to think about it, you'll hide behind the rules, which only proves that the admin has a personal opinion and selectivity, I would like to be surprised that I am wrong about the general behavior, I am sure that many agree with me, because I see extremely frequent complaints about the EA admin.
And let it be very clear, I am not saying that I am in favor of hate speech, there may be a penalty, however banning the account is analogous to sentencing someone to death row, I have not committed any heinous crime to receive this type of punishment, and the suspension time has already been quite long.

Will you consider it or leave me hanging?

    TioChicaoBR1983 Hey there!

Bans cannot be handled here on the forums as you would need to contact the EA TOS Team.

Furthermore, the option to report players for inappropriate chat still exists from within the game, (and through EA's report system):

EA has zero tolerance for hate speech, (regardless of who was in the wrong first).

This means that if a player participates in such behavior, they can expect to have their EA Account permanently banned, (and other players can and will be able to report the offending player either in-game or through EA Help's Report a Player webform).
