@hunterkillerjm5 Yeah I think it is legend specific tracker, pretty sure my kill leader kills varies between legends.

- @MandatoryIDtag I checked my Revenant tracker, it says that my Kills as Kill Leader is 9, but my highest kill count in a match is 8. My Gib tracker says 5 but I became Kill Leader with him with 7 kills. Now I'm confused
@hunterkillerjm5 Ok so it tallies up every kill you've earned AFTER becoming kill leader from the sum total of all the matches you've played as a kill leader if that makes sense?
This is tracked separately per legend.
So as an example;
Game 1, achieves kill leader at 3 kills, finishes game on 5= 2 kills.
Game 2, achieves kill leader at 5 kills, finishes on 6 kills= 1 kill.
Game 3, achieves kill leader at 3 kills, finishes on 9=6
So you add 2+1+6 and the tracker should subsequently read,
Kills as kill leader:9.

Please note if you're overtaken as kill leader any further kills you've earned won't be counted as you've lost the title.
I think if you die and are revived via the respawn ship you automatically lose the title too.
@MandatoryIDtagI see, It kinda makes sense now. So it adds up the additional kills you get while you are "crowned" a Kill Leader
This clarified it: "if you're overtaken as kill leader any further kills you've earned won't be counted as you've lost the title."
