You might have recognized that THE MOST POINTS are given fo the time you survive.
15-20 minutes give about 3500 points! If you get 1st place you just get
600900 (edited) points added.1 kill = 50 points
If my teammates die without any chance of rescue I play as long as possible.
BUT that means I have to survive and cannot go into firefights.
I make it to the top 5 very often by hiding and evading and get my 4000 XP.
Some 2nd places too ALONE.
I also had some 1st places with a squad of 2!
Maybe they should add more possibilities to win the game, besides from killing each other.
Wait no... That would be "The Cycle", sorry this game allready exists...
+1
Players will leave the game because
A: They died and don't want to wait to be respawned and have no minimal gear/weapons when dropping.
B: They split solo cause the location tagged to drop is not on their challenge list.
C: They have no sense of "squad" play and don't gaf
So many suggestions/requests have been made to be equipped with at least a p20 or moz when being respawned...nothing changes. So many suggestions/requests have been made to not include location based challenges....nothing changes. So many suggestions/requests have been made to include the leaver penalty in casual...and yet, nothing changes. So many suggestions/requests have been made to include solo/duo play permanently, and yet nothing changes....
We all get the cut and paste replies stating "__fill in the blank__"
So...we deal with it until we find sth more enjoyable
The only reason why some of the top streamers are still playing is cause they're signed and paid...that's it!

@Flashshark1980while sitting around and waiting does award the most points, it's definitely not how the game should be allocating points. They reward placement rather than performance, which leads to exceptional players killing everyone, good players to pick and choose engagements when they're alone, and bad players to sit around and wait to get shot. The best way to improve your placement, is to kill everyone else. Which simply doesn't happen if you're stuck waiting around.
On top of that, it's extremely not fun to be put into those situations where your teammates die and you have to 1v3 everyone in the first place. If your team is gonna drop alone and kill themselves, why not just have a solo mode in the first place? What exactly is stopping them from doing so? The fact that there's a lack of choice behind how someone is supposed to enjoy the game is beyond ridiculous. Everyone plays differently, some people like squads, some people don't care about performance and simply play because they like to play, some people like to play competitively each game, some people like to get better and improve on a per game basis, and some people are just toxic. To lock everyone into one choice is a poor idea. The problem is not, "The circumstances that give me points is bad (even though it is)", but rather, "The circumstances that give me points are directly tied to circumstances beyond my control, and the lack of control of how I can grind for points / enjoy the game is infuriating."
Also, "The Cycle" looks good. You play? Is it good?

1) If the game stays in the current state, leaving players alone if their teammates die and allowing leavers, this is the only option for single players...
2) If you are alone firefights just make no sense dude... If your teammate leave or die you can't attack a 3 man squad
3) Will give it a try if it's out of beta, but definitly gives more dimensional winning options
@pastaclown and @Vladplaya illustrated how I feel about pubs very well in their replies. I have been playing Fortnite more and more recently playing solo's exclusively and rest assured i'm not winning a lot there, yet losing in Fortnite doesn't rattle my cage, because I lost because they other player is just better. Which is fine in my book.
What really annoys me in Apex is losing for reasons that are outside of my control. Sometimes it feels like i'm just taking spins at a roulettes table, and winning a game is just a matter of rolling 6's rather than snake eyes with your dice.
Why even play such a game? Like stated before, after spending hundreds i'm still going to uninstall due how profoundly not fun this is.
@Flashshark1980 very conveniently you leave out where I say that good players will pick and choose their engagements when they're alone. I've jumped into multiple firefights whilst alone, and I'd say about half the time I come out on top. It's half skill and information, and half luck that will win you 1v3s. Sometimes you've got all the info and come out on top, and sometimes the audio bugs out and you get gored by a Mastiff.
Even just putting pressure on teams without killing anyone improves your chances of winning. Taking pot-shots with sniper rifles, flanking in cover enemies and subsequently downing them, draining shields, locking off escape routes with grenades, even just finishing off downed enemies is a sure-fire way to tip the scales in your favor. Information is your best friend, and currently you know you're alone, but no one else knows you're alone.
When you're alone, and your first thought is, "I'm alone I should hide and wait for the enemy to kill each other off." you've already lost, you might as well just quit and move onto the next game. All that time you spent hiding could've been time spent actually killing other people, and by God every time I've watched teammates hide someone comes by and blows them straight into next week. When you're alone, your first thought should be, "How can I tip the scales in my favor despite how awful the circumstances are?" Does that mean you shouldn't ever be waiting? No! It means waiting shouldn't be your primary mean of securing a better position.
- @pastaclown You should be a poet, cause that was very moving and true.

1. I allready proofed with my screenshot that I can even win games alone and I have reached a good number of 2nd places (often 1st place clearly uses maphack or ESP to find me)
2. Killing just gives 50 XP so even if you kill 10 enemies you just get 500 XP, for 18 minutes hiding I get 4200 points without any risk
3. if you quit the game you have to wait for the next game and loose playing time. 3 x 4 minutes playing + 3 x 2 minutes waiting means a loss of 1400 XP. (need to kill 9 players each time)
4. I do not abandon my team or hide when firefight start if I have a 3 man squad. But I recoqgnize when its time to fall back and play more defensive (especially alone or with 2 man)
@pastaclown wrote:I've jumped into multiple firefights whilst alone, and I'd say about half the time I come out on top.
Good for you! But 99% of the idiots I meet just die after 10 seconds because they land between 6 squads....
They get 0 XP for kills and 40 XP for surviving 10 seconds rthen wait 2 minutes for next match.. LOL1. Your screenshot proves you know how to pick and choose engagements, which is why I was wondering why you didn't acknowledge that people can pick and choose. It's not impossible to wait and hit 1st, 2nd, or 3rd, but it's definitely not my preferred way. Why let fate take the wheel when you've got a perfectly good gun in your hands to make the wheels of fate turn for you?
2. Your math is a little off, 18 minutes of pure hiding at 3 exp per second of hiding nets you 3240 exp, not including placement nor kills, nor revives, etc. etc. To make up for the extra 1000, you'd have a butt load of different combinations that don't involve hiding whatsoever. https://apexlegends.gamepedia.com/Experience check that out to see how everything stacks up. Unsurprisingly damage is the least rewarding because...game design. Also! I'm not certain how the %EXP bonuses you get from the pass work, so the calculations here are done without them.
3. Once again, the math is a little off, at base for 12 minutes of play you'd receive 2160 exp spread out over 3 sessions. If you're waiting 2 minutes each time between games spread out that's around 1080 exp lost just from not playing alone. If you kill 9 players each match though (which btw, great work), you'd recieve 2430 exp, and the same loss of exp. It's definitely not bad, but understandably it is still a loss. I'm not always waiting two minutes for another match to queue up, but if you are, then obviously playing as long as possible per game is definitely going to be more important than killing everyone in the game.
4. No ones saying you're abandoning your team, and the fact you know when to flee and when to fight is pretty good sign that you're not a bad player. Once again, it made me question why you don't acknowledge that good players pick and choose, when you're clearly not a bad player.
5. God the stupidity of some of the teammates I've had. I had a guy land us in the middle of literal nowhere, and go AFK for 3 minutes. Dude comes back, runs to me (after I've looted the nearest area) and very loudly whine in voice comms, "You're a loot hog why didn't you save anything for me?" Like...excuse me???
@pastaclown wrote:Also, "The Cycle" looks good. You play? Is it good?
I've installed the Cycle 2 days ago and did a few matches in solo-mode!
YES, they do have solo-mode, duo-mode and quad-mode! (BUT IT'S EARLY ACCESS)
It's always 20 players so 10 duos or 5 quads compete against each other.
Aaaaand, you can team up in solo-mode and build a duo, too!
But both players lose their shields to make it fair for the single players.Instead of looting weapons, you run arround and harvest gas and minerals and complete other quests to gather points.
In each quest / harvest you need to fight PvE against wild animals, harder quests mean harder animals but more reward.
In the end you have to go to the center of the map where you have to fight some animals to get to the dropship.
The whole time of course you can attack other players, too.
You also can take over their gas-extractors or captured beacons for the information-quest.
Of course there is a fight for the drop ship, too!
You get cash from killed animals and other stuff you find.
During the whole match you can buy weapons and gadgets from a predifined list you can define for youself. So far I can say, the endfight for the dropship is a huge drawback.
You have to enter an eroded Vulcano, which just has 2 entries.
Of course one team allready guards this position to kill all arriving players. It would be much better with a random position on the map,
since some characters can place gunturrets what makes a great defence!
Also your predefined list of weapons and gadgets needs to be researched first.
You can't build every weapon right from the start.
So players who play longer have better weapons...
one more funfact: they also use easy anti cheat 😞I saw shroud play the beta, and the PvE elements kinda put me off, it isn't my cup of tea.
All I want is for 2k/TRS to resurrect Evolve. I miss that game so much.
@ColdHours Evolve was my JAM, I LOVED THAT GAME. My favorite character was the lady in the mech with the powerfist thingy, something something more damage each consecutive hit. Favorite monster was the meteor goliath (the blue one I think?). Extra burn damage was so much fun.
@pastaclown Oh, you mean Lennox. Yeah she was cool. Sunny was the one I liked playing. As for monsters it was the Behemoth.
Fun fact: You can still play it. Just not against people in multiplayer. But you can solo it against bots or on p2p with friends. Just found this out today.
Loaded it up to see and it works! It's wonderful seeing it and all my elite skin unlocks as well as other cosmetics. However if you deleted it, then you cannot download it or get any of the progress back.
I'm definitely going to play it tomorrow and relive the nostalgia.
And again brainless dogs running alone into the enemy....
Then they cry "where are you??? WTF YOU DO?"
Yeah... I was 1 km behind them just going up the jumptower to follow!
But the dogs can't wait 10 seconds! NO! they have to attack as soon as possible...
STUPID STUPID STUPID....
USE THE MINIMAP DOGS!
Calm down and regroup before attacking....JUST FRAGGREEDY LOOSERS RUN ALONE INTO A SQUAD!
Well I could have run into the enemy, too, to start a useless rescue action, but the first dog that died left the game.
So I decided to win the match instead...
