Re: Sound Even worse this season

Do you play on xbox?  The platform seems plagues with audio problems with Apex the last few months.  I haven't really noticed any difference myself, but that doesn't mean there isn't any.

No, PC here. Seems silly that you can't get certain audio with the amount of sound channels available these days.

@Ragarath @swift07 you have got to try Steelseries Sonar audio software,  it's free. My son says it's unbelievable and can hear enemies miles away on his pc. He has midrange TB headphones. SSS has presets for Apex, and other games.

If you try it can you please come back and let us know how you got on with it?

Yes @OldTreeCreeper I saw that when it came out. Call me old fashioned by I consider that sort of thing a cheat even if it's a soft cheat and that you can do it with DACs etc if you spent the time. You're not hearing the audio the same as everyone should. Your changing it to enhance certain aspects. They are not comparable, but if you really go to the extremes down that road. Aimbotters etc. are only enhancing their game.

Also, it's not that I can't hear them, it's that they are not there so many times.

@OldTreeCreeper I'm trying it right now and I put it on Apex setting, but it sounds kind of funky. Do I need to adjust stuff?

@Ragarath as far as I can see its just a digital equaliser,  so you could probably get the same effect out through a good stereo with a decent eq. The sounds are already there, its not the introduction of an adjustment to give an advantage.

So even though I'm old,  I'll just have to call you

    old fashioned 😃

  • @swift07 when you eq some sounds over other sounds it will take away some qualities of the other sounds, so it may sound different. Yt did say things in general sound a bit different, but the advantages made it very acceptable to him. How are the footsteps of enemy's?

  • @swift07 from yt

    Using apex settings

    Equaliser on.

Spacial audio needs to be on,  headphone mode on and tuned to performance.

    Smart volume on to max

He has turned his bass down to - 12db (all the way down)

He says the bass down gives a huge clarity.

I tried but still sounds weird.  I'm going to mess around with the settings tomorrow.

Yea, is it OK to pinpoint or just make the footsteps "louder"?

@OldTreeCreeper I've been using it. I just had a pathy walk up right behind me while I was healing and no footsteps. None whatsoever. It's hard to decipher sounds with sonar on as well. I honestly don't know if it's helping.

@OldTreeCreeper I had a pathy walk up right behind me, but then again...pathy doesn't have any sound lol. I have Hyper X Stinger headphones and they sound good on most games.
  • @swift07 so is it that all the behind footsteps are not improved in your case with SSS? What about other footstep sounds and their positional location in general?  Have they improved like yt says?

@OldTreeCreeper Well, I was just playing rn and a Bangalore just ran around my building and up the stairs right next to me and no footsteps till she got right on my side. So frustrating.
  • @swift07 I don't understand why yt and your good self are having such a different experience? I'll have a further chat with him and get back to you.

Have other footsteps improved,  the ones that you do hear?
