Ok.
I'm back, here's what I did.
Test 1: Throwing grenades outside of the affected zone.
When I was close to the pylon, I tossed a thermite clearly outside of where the pylon should affect. The thermite landed like normal.
I went further away from the pylon, and tossed a thermite in the same area, thermite landed like normal.
This shows that it doesn't matter where you are, you can throw a grenade anywhere outside the zone.
Test 2: Throwing a grenade straight up.
Stood next to the pylon, tossed a grenade straight up. On the way up, nothing happened, but on the way down it was vaporized.
Stood further away from the pylon, (still within it's zone) and tossed a grenade up. Nothing on the way up, but vaporized on the way down.
This shows that it doesn't matter where you throw a grenade from, if it lands within the affected area it will be destroyed.
While testing, I did see the two rings. While the outer ring is definitely to show the area the pylon affects, I have no clue what the inside ring does.
I'm not sure what the inside ring does, since it looked like the shield charging and ability charging extended to the outer ring, as well as the ordnance blocking part.
- @Sir_Named I just tested again. Seems like you can throw from anywhere inside its radius except the edge of the outer ring(where the ultimate still recharges your shields) but blocks friendly grenades(going outwards). Interesting, so that's why it keeps on intercepting friendly nades/caustics gas ultimate, etc. So if you stand on the edge of the outer ring(last point where ultimate works), it will destroy friendly ordnance. That's kinda messed up.
- @Sir_Named Ooo just saw the test post and another post. I think when I've been trying to throw out and it intercepted I was on the very edge. I'm wondering if this is a bug?
- @BaldWraithSimp Ah, so that's where the confusion is. That must be a bug or something.
- @hayhor Looks like a bug. And besides, the outer ring radius doesn't stay after deploying so there is no way of knowing where it actually is. So stick close to the pylon lol
- @BaldWraithSimp In Firing Range, I was sometimes able to make it reappear if I walked into it in the right way, but I'm not exactly sure how to recreate it.
- @Sir_Named I think it's random cuz I couldn't recreate it too.
@BaldWraithSimpWhat we have started doing is placing the pylon in a better location. Or I move quite away to throw a nade. For example you can throw a nade from the roof of a train car if the pylon is in the car anywhere.
- @hayhor You can throw it from anywhere inside the pylon, as long as (a. You aren't on the edge of it's effective area, (it seems like a bug) and (b it won't land back inside of the effective area.
It might be easier to do depending on the position of the ult, (do walls and stuff restrict the effective area? I think it at least affects the shield charge, because there is/was a bug where bangalore smoke would prevent the pylon from recharging shields.) I'm glad all of you guys have been testing it out so I know that's not just me Haha. You should've seen my look of despair after my tact got shot down, I went picking people off with the Sentinel screaming I am Death to just being like "oh". Very anticlimactic and my teammates noticed during a firefight xD
- @Sir_Named I've just done my own experiment. Between 13 and 21 meters from the pylon you cant throw a grenade out at all. inside or outside that you can.
- @hayhor So you either have to be right next to it or nowhere near it?
