Wingman and the Peacekeeper
Edited by CM Alright I have never felt the need to delve into the EA forums, been through bf 3, 4, and hard line, never felt the urge to get a message across.
The Wingman, is broken. Accurate...
I wouldn't say Wingman is OP - it's damage is definitely fine, but it definitely needs some recoil - it's too easy to use as it is now at any range at max fire rate. It's also completely weird and unnatural recoil pattern - jump to 2nd bullet and then shoot pretty much one hole for 11 shots. It should just keep going the same as between 1st and 2nd shots, maybe even with some inconsistency.
And no, that non-existent recoil is not just for slow-tapping, it's at max fire rate (a bit over 3 shots/sec). Actually, slow-tapping the Wingman would result in worse performance, since you would keep resetting the pattern and sometimes may hit that 1->2 bullet jump. Which is actually doubly awkward.
thaaaank you! someone who plays the game!
I think a zig-zag rising recoil pattern would fit the Wingman very nicely. You would have to alternate the pull direction for every shot (down-left, down-right, down-left, down-right...) if you wanted to shoot at max fire rate. That would work for pro's (who can spend hours programming their hand) and at very close range (where just pulling down would suffice). And average joe's would have to resort to slow-tapping at long range. And considering wingman dps is balanced around max fire rate, slow tapping would make it average gun at best.
P.S. A symmetrical zig-zag pattern would also be interesting for another reason: you could just shoot pulling just down starting from 2nd bullet and then hit every 2nd bullet, missing all the bullets on the other side - you would get easy control of the gun, but lose half the dps (a compromise some may like). Could maybe even align one side of the pattern with first bullet, so that hitting 1,3,5,... bullets would be an option.

I just repeatedly tested the gun at multiple speeds, will be uploading a video shortly, proving that I was correct, and you were anything but...
Here's the Wingman's spread video...

You're not even ADS and that's a fairly close group 😂😂 we are talking down sights, as for hipfire, that's allot better than I would have expected!
A little recoil with no ads? wow. Now do one how you actually use wingman - with ads and see the truth.

A lot of people rapid firing in ADS? You do realize, you do have to stand almost completely still to do that, right?
I thought your original post was bad enough when I thought you were talking about hipfiring it.
We’ll play it then. The nerfs will come soon and another meta will be born and people will complain about that. Just run wingman and peacekeeper and if it’s oh so easy as you say you won’t have any problem will a lot of games. There’s a meta at every level in every game, get over it
Oh absolutely. There will always be something better. I am playing it, and I avoid using the wingman specifically because I find it so incredibly easy to use. You'll find very little of shroud using it for that reason alone, not that I'm even 1/10th of him. As long as the wingman gets the nerf it needs I will have no problems with this game, matches where it never comes in to play are the ones I enjoy the most, and 9/10, times are the ones I win.
If this thread continues to see salt and the general "get over it" I'll just delete it, it seems everything useful and unusefull has been said.
@Biochemikas The Wingman is definitely NOT ok and is absolutely 100% overpowered.
The gun dominates at every single range.Even at a close range you can literally just spam hipfire someone and kill them within seconds. Even players like Shroud admit the gun is overpowered, the only people denying it are the people who abuse the gun using it every game as a crutch. The gun is absurd.
Where do you see me saying it's OK as is? It's not overpowered, that is the dps is lower than most other guns, but it does have a few problems. 1) lack of recoil - that's just not right. 2) insane ammo efficiency - makes all light ammo weapons cry (you can carry 6 grenades and 1 stack of ammo and still kill more ppl than with R99...). 3) it's the best weapon for medium range - would be fixed by adding recoil.
Those are the real problems I see with it. I completely disagree with ppl saying it's damage is too high. It's definitely top grade damage, but not top of all guns, which is completely fine.
R99 will shred Wingman at close range, perfectly controlled R301 (mostly headshots) will shred wingman at any range. In no armor situations, even peacekeeper can beat wingman (although I think PK is pretty meh otherwise).
I've been running Longbow a lot lately and I find that this map DOES have some long ranges (although need to really plan those fights) and at those ranges Wingman stands absolotely no chance vs Longbow with 4x+ (I still think longbow needs a slight dmg buff).
So to sum it all up: Wingman needs 2 simple changes: add recoil for every shot and do something with it's ammo efficiency (my solution would be to make it use 2 bullets per shot (although may need to increase mag sizes a bit to compensate (maybe by 33% to make it 4 shots with no mag)).
An alternative balance way would be to keep the ammo efficiency and lower the dps, but I fear that then it would be useless and the extra grenades/meds would not compensate losing direct firefights. E.g., lowering it by 30%, would make it similar to Alternator - you would drop it the moment you found something better (e.g., Hemlock). I think Wingman is a fun weapon and it's damage should stay tier1.
