I like how Battlefield attempts to solve this issue with “Uniform Soldier Aim”. No matter what sight you use, it’s supposed to move the same amount of pixels across your screen. I love this concept.
Aiming in Apex can feel a little off at times, but for me personally, I think that’s more to do with hit registration more than anything. I feel like I can aim where I should be, but my shots at times will literally go through character models with zero registration.
The biggest change I’ve made more recently was set the global ADS sensitivity to 0.9. That’s helped my aim tremendously. It makes everything feel more 1:1 like how the Uniform Soldier Aim feels like in BF. From what you described though, sounds like you went in the other direction with the sensitivity.
Thanks for the post. It’s interesting, and I’ve never heard that MDC term before, and I consider myself kind of a nerd on this topic. I have to look that one up. I don’t think anything I mentioned will be helpful to you, but wanted to contribute to the conversation.
- 2 years ago@RaginSam Uniform Soldier Aiming is Monitor Distance Coefficient (MDC). I don't play Battlefield, but if I did, I would set the coefficient to 178, which equates to MDC 1.78. I believe Battlefield defaults to 133, which equates to MDC 1.33. Call of Duty also defaults to MDC 1.33. Valorant and Counter Strike use MDC 1.78 and MDC 1.33 respectively. Neither Valorant nor Counter Strike offers the option to change the MDC, and neither does Apex Legends. However, Apex Legends offers per-scope sensitivity settings.
In games that offer per-scope sensitivity settings, such as Apex Legends, players can adjust the scope sensitivity multiplier on a per-scope basis using sensitivity calculators, which essentially changes the MDC. However, neither Valorant nor Counter Strike provides per-scope sensitivity settings. Since I primarily play Valorant, I got used to MDC 1.78 and use it across all the games I play.
