Respawn/EA needs to promote the ALGS

Was just watching a documentary on Netflix about esports and it shows the hype around these major events. We also used to go to a sports bar to watch a livestream of the DOTA championships. As for the ALGS though, it seems that there’s no hype or advertisements around it. The esports scene for a live service game is also important for the general health of the game in my opinion.

There’s no ads at all and not even a mention on their social media accounts. I had to google when is the event and only saw updates through the players themselves. I want ALGS championship to be bigger since it’s gonna be a LAN event and the price pool of $2M is impressive but I hope they can promote it more.

Based from the scrims that I’ve watched, I’m glad there’s a lot of variation with the legends again especially Seer and some teams switching Gibby with Newcastle which makes watching less boring.

@Cheese9Man I think it's because there are major issues right now. Custom lobbies still seem to be having issues and lots of foreign players can't seem to get their visas. I'm wondering if the finals get delayed.

@Cheese9Man I hope they create open public event competitions entered through the game lobby, much like fortnite. It would be very exciting and an alternative to ranked.

@OldTreeCreeper I agree, that’s an awesome idea. I used to play that mobile MOBA called Mobile Legends with a similar mode.

@Cheese9Man Also don't forget the ZERO tourneys between the playoffs and the championship, which is ridiculous, teams cannot even practice for the biggest competition of the year lol.
If you want to see how a big event is done, check some LoL LANs, they know how to put up a big show for the tournament.

@Cro_Pittt The netflix documentary focused on how big the LOL and DOTA championships are which look amazing in these huge stadiums.

Just looked at Apex’s twitter and they did tweet about it yesterday. Been seeing Hal’s frustrations on the custom matches.

@Cheese9Man What esports scene man? What are you talking about? The game barely works half the time. Have you not seen that they're having so much trouble even hosting scrims? Servers are dying, this game is not esports ready.

LOL and DOTA have sustained for many years. Overwatch came and failed. Apex is barely out of the gate by comparison. Only Fortnite has hit stratospheric numbers and sustained as a newcomer.
Maybe they should promote it more but I already think the focus needs to be on the core game as mentioned. If they can please their main body of players, which they haven’t lately, the popularity of the esport will follow.

@Cro_Pittt That's why I think it will be postponed, although I'd think they could make a closed LAN work.
