Ring Timings (worse than cheaters)

After like a 2 year break, the game seems OK in general, of course anyone could pinpoint specific things but altogether for me it's just one thing that sticks out very badly.

The Ring Timings.
Imo this has always been bad in Apex but the new spawn made it worse. I consider myself quite unlucky with the spawn usually, so I have to run quite a lot, but all i want to say, the majority of my games are ruined by nothing else but THE RING.

Seriously, even more frequently than cheaters, I just don't have enough time to properly fight a fight in the 2nd and 3rd rings. Many times I get into quite an enjoyable fight, but either have to abandon it or stay and risk dying to the ring.(or the enemy team obviously)

My suggestion:
I think the first ring is okay as it is but I would slow down the second and the third, either by 30-30 secs or maybe 1 minute - 1 minute to give a bit more time for fighting/repositioning.

That's all.
Cheers.

  • I would assume that RainRandomnumber by "enjoyable fight" you mean = shooting at eachother endlessly, farming damage yet failing to get upper hand for like 1+ min :)

    a) that is a clear indication of bad mechanics and/or tactics, Apex has high time to kill but it means more like 10-20 seconds not like 1+ min

    b) it is your ego speaking = willing to farm damage vs be efficient and just 3, 2, 1 certain enemy => insta knock => proceed with fast phase finish moments later

Ring is just fine if you are:

    1. aware of rotations and how fast people move in Apex aka how much time you need to go from point A to B
    2. have mobile legend on your team who can boost people's speed of rotation, ideally Pathfinder or Valk
    3. have proper inventory management skill  = carrying enough heals if you plan to fight in a ring, having deployable balloon on hand etc. (this season I struggle to find heat-shields, did they got ride of those?)
    4. most importantly keep your ego at check and realize that early or at worst timely rotation is better (in terms of ranked mode) vs pointless fight for X kills and placement around 10-15th in the ring

If not mistaken Respawn FINALLY changed their ranked focus (a bit more) towards placement and clearly eliminated braindead 10 teams landing on one spot situation => rotations and ring damage just becomes a thing for people who before that would be one of those 10 brainless squads and never see to experience zone 3+ because they would be dead before first ring closes 9 out of 10 times. In other words Ring damage always has been a factor already for many many seasons, if not mistaken that's why heatshields were invented to kinda give really bad players (in terms of rotation) at least a fighting chance to survive latter rings + for better player a new ways of rotation (going into good late game spot through zone damage).

  • not farming damage, I'm personally not a fan of blindly fighting for minutes but thirdpartying combined with the current spawn system equals 4-5-6 squad fights, and you can't just get over something like that in 20 seconds.

Not sure where that is possible... Playing only ranked, had to climb from Silver 1 due to inactivity in past seasons (being D4+ always player), max that I got if I recall correctly was 12 KP game which was like 5+7 = 4 fights in all the game, if not mistaken we won that one or placed 2nd.

If you can survive regularly 4-6 fights... I need to see that. Most teams based on stats which you can see game over game (have not seen current situation) do not survive 1 fight, 10+ teams from 20 almost always end up with 3 or less KP per game, rest is basically top 5-7 teams taking most of the points starting with hacker teams or matchmaking abusers down to higher ranked teams that just got matched into lower level lobby because that's how Apex works.

Same goes if you meant like 4-6 squad cross fire... if that happens quite sure at least half dies because most players have no brain / too high ego to pull out of such situation.

I can imagine that in open maps like KC or OLY or even more so E-DIS people might shoot 30-30 and snipers from 100m+ but I would not call that a fight, even if you get knock or at best random kill good for you but you can't/will not push into that team to finish things off. Plus if you engage in such "fights" over taking that time to rotate...well your game sense is just bad and there is nothing wrong with ring timing.
