Community ManagerI've been enjoying the changes this season quite a bit. It's been the most fun I've had with the game since I started playing around season 4-6.
The Good:
- The evo-shield rework is great. Less about luck, more about working as a team and doing damage. Since the concept was implemented, I've been waiting for this change. One of my favorite things about this season.
- I love how anyone on the team can craft banners long as you have a support. While this game is a BR, it feels like a more fun and approachable take on the genre. It's the only BR that I have really enjoyed playing.
- Crafters, just for banners, ammo, and heals is a great change. I didn't care for the weapons and attachments being in there. Solid change.
The Bad:
- The servers feel pretty awful at times. Nothing new, but it's getting to the point that there's no hope that it will ever be fixed. A lot of times I suspect cheaters messing with something causing the server to run poorly. I had a very questionable teammate one round, I saw someone get stuck in mid-jump, and I was able to beam them and get the knock. It reminded me of videos I saw when people were using lag-switches in COD games.
- Lots of cheaters still. In Pubs and in Ranked.
- Aim Assist needs to be further reduced. The majority of players I run into on PC are using controllers for one simple fact, aim assist. The game can feel kinda inconsistent at times with a mouse. Controller players typically either have the mic on all the time, or never use it. They don't seem to use PTT. It's very distracting to hear every cough, constant fuzz noise, and whatever else they have going on. Controller players also have a very distinct play style, rush in and barrel stuff em lol. They don't like playing mid-ranged fights because they rely almost solely on one-clipping someone up close. Aim assist IS the meta right now. Look at the Pro scene.
Final Thoughts:
A few reasons that hold me back from spending money on this game. Cheaters, poor server performance, and aim assist. Otherwise, it's the most fun I've had with the game in quite a while. Season 17 I think is the last time I changed because of all the baffling changes made. It was not playable what so ever. No one in lower ranked lobbies wants to go up against a 3-stack masters/Pred squad. I like that Respawn is willing to take some bigger chances at times, but that was awful. I hope we never have to endure that again, but I'm certain we will at some point.
