"why does my overall gaming experience matter less than someone else’s BECAUSE I am in a higher skill group?"
Very true. The tyranny of the majority over the minority --it feels discriminating for sure.
But you also have your answer.
"I understand that gaming publishers have to cater to the largest player group (casual players) to maximize their profits". That is why.
If you go ahead and quit is entirely up to you. EA would never recommend you quit, but EA would not bother one way or the other IMO. And given that if all top players were to quit it would be a 5% loss at most, I do not see how that would be any significant. The general skill level will receive a hit, and a new skill level with a new pool of 5%-ers will be established and that would be about it. I do not see why top streamers would ever quit though, until they can make an income from it. Or make cash playing in tournaments, cups, etc.
I occasionally watch ALGS matches and find them very boring. It is all calculated and very slow gameplay, except eventually for the final 2 circles where teams have lost their positions to the ring and are forced out of their camping spot.
Ranked is not that much campy, but it is fairly campy too. So IF I were in your position, I would consider quitting because of the campy playstyle higher ranks have, rather than the win ratio. Which are perhaps connected topics (playstyle and win ratio)?
