No it doesn't, either you're using 7.1 with headphones (which is bad) or your hearing is terrible, or your headphones are terrible, or both.
@Wingmannedbro this is a legit issue bro.
I have audio issues constantly in game regardless if whether my audio is output via my TV or headset.
Vanishing SFX, particularly footsteps, occasionally tactical/ult ability SFX too. The bizarre thing is these issues seem to plague some players and not others which makes it highly frustrating when you are on the receiving end.

I had some missing FX since Season 3 launch, which became much less of an issue with the patches, but people who say it's on the game's end that they cannot tell if footsteps are above or below them are probably using surround sound setting using 2.0 stereo headsets.
This mistake is as common as tapwater among gamers.

@Wingmannedbro yeah in hindsight i didn't read the OP properly haha.
- DarthValtrex6 years agoHero (Retired)@MandatoryIDtag Definitely been a on the receiving end of the lack of foot step sounds. Hopefully a patch is in the works, I'm sure it's a high priority for them. Give them a chance to get it worked out and into a patch.
We want instant solutions, but sometimes these things take time for their teams to fix. I feel like the overall game is improving.- 6 years ago
@DarthValtrex They have claimed to have fixed this issue during various patches and it still keeps springing up. I've been pretty patient so far, but when it's costing me wins the frustration levels tend to rise pretty steadily. 😛

- DarthValtrex6 years agoHero (Retired)@DrenMadre The audio did not get bad for me until the new map came out. That said, their devs have a host of issues they are trying to sort out. There is the audio, there are some areas of the map that need refinement, Epicenter needs work, the movement on the ICE is weird and sticky at times. There are areas of the map that you can get stuck, areas you can fall off the map and not die.
Then there was the PK buff, then the nerfing of it.
There are problems with the ring and it's speed at which it closes.
None of this is out of the norm, especially considering how big of an update season 3 was. Give them some time to fix it, coding is not as simple as you think and it can take a lot of time to sort through the code and find that one error in the code that is causing the problems. Patches are also complicated because they can add a patch and it will fix one thing but create an entirely new problem.
The devs are people, they are humans.. Respawn will get it worked out. I can name a bunch of other games that are far worse.
- 6 years ago@MandatoryIDtag I didn't experience sound issues until recently. Just the other day, a Wraith landed near me and I didn't hear any of her footsteps nor her first 2 punches. The weirdest thing was that I tried to box her and went down after receiving 3 more punches, although already wearing a blue armor. Judging by the death recap, there was one other punch that I didn't hear but didn't notice either (maybe it happened right after I landed, before going from 3rd person to first person).
Also yesterday, I could've sworn that the steps behind me were friendly (one of the teammates was near, but at the base of the building, not on top, where I was observing) and got shot in the back.
Closing ring seems to approach silently more and more. Picking items sometimes doesn't get the confirmation sound, while in some cases there is sound but it's the teammate or enemy near you that gets the item. Sometimes you can hear shots that seem to be in train yard but they're actually in Capitol or even in the Epicenter / Refinery, while other times you don't hear the fight until you see it. At times it seems that the footsteps sounds are a bit behind the enemy.
I've encountered most of these in the last 2-3 weeks, along with many freezes, post patch 3.1.- Fr3dY26 years agoRising Ace
I used a 7.1 headset before, but not anymore. However, spatial sounds can still be improved - a lot.
Maybe it's working for the console version, but at least for me in PC it's not clear where the sounds come from.
At least, quite far from the sample sounds I already posted at https://answers.ea.com/t5/General-Discussion/Sound-improvement-firing-footsteps-Holophonics/m-p/8149728

Exactly. I’m sure there is a technical explanation but there most definitely isn’t a clear cut solution that totally alleviates the audio issues.
The audio issues are VERY real, and common. I think the issue is that much more impactful to all of our experience because Battle Royals typically afford players one life (save respawns). You make one mistake against similarly skilled opponents and you are dead. Players simply can’t have something as important as audio failing on them when one mistake = death. It would be like the jump button sporadically not working in a platform game.
