Skill gap

Can someone pls explain to me why these games refuse to let there be a skill gap...currently the two biggest games are fortnite and apex....yet both games have managed to erase the shooter skill gap in one way or another...or in multiple ways in fortnites case. Why do they do this? I can't for the life of me understand why they take the time to design characters and hit boxes and then add 1 tap shotguns. Fortnite has made aim irrelevant with 220 dmg shotties, AR bloom that lands 3/30 at 40m and building 3 story towers faster than bullets travel...now a fresh new br comes out and looks to favor good aim and tracking skills the bam...you figure out that a peacekeeper does 160 dmg in one shot and the reticle covers MULTIPLE hit boxes. Why add a shotty that you literally don't have to aim with? Just strafe across your accurately shooting enemy and pull the trigger 1 time when the 2 inch hip fire reticle crosses him and you will win 90% of gun fights inside 20m. It doesn't matter that he hit you with 4 bullets for 80dmg from a gun design irl to be strapped to Humvees and choppers to fight armored vehicles and shred through cinder block barriers. Just eat those 4 bullets and put that 2 inch reticle on him and you'll 1 tap him. It's ok if your only half accurate with that 2 inch reticle buddy...that half accurate shot still does 50 dmg...so don't worry about the 9 accurate p2020 shots he landed on you because he missed once and has to reload now...just strafe across again and land another half on shot with the 2 inch reticle and he'll die

  • Hi @HamoHitman

I think the battle royal mode is designed to be very easily accessible by a wide range of players. That's possibly why you have a spectrum of weapons and Legends with very different abilities.

    "WEAPON BALANCE

Overall, we feel that the current weapons present solid options for a variety of gameplay styles. We've found that the Skullpiercer Wingman has been on the stronger end, but it’s designed to be a weapon with a higher skill ceiling. Our adjustments are attempting to move it more into the hand cannon space and away from full auto Deagle. We’ve also adjusted the rate of fire of the Peacekeeper with Shotgun Bolt attachment, so players will have a larger window of vulnerability if they miss their shot. Additionally, the scarcity of energy ammo and lower number of energy weapons overall has made those weapons difficult to main, so we’ve increased energy weapon and ammo availability."

The gameplay designers have stated that they wish to change the balance and meta of Apex less frequently:

"HOW WE THINK ABOUT LIVE BALANCE AT RESPAWN

A core philosophy of our development process for Apex Legends is to listen to player feedback, parse through all the data we get from the game, try things, and then playtest them a ton to get them just right. And… repeat. The goal is to ship polished, closer to the mark updates than if we got things out rapidly and iterated in the live environment. We know y'all are putting a ton of time into the game and mastering every nuance (like Wraith portalling people off cliffs for the final kill lolz). Our goal is to make less frequent, better tested, higher impact changes, so it minimizes the effects on your time spent mastering a particular mechanic, weapon, character, etc. You shouldn't have to read our patch notes every few days just to keep up with how characters and weapons now work."

  • There is a massive skill gap in both games.  If you suck there is no chance you will beat a good player unless the net code screws you.

  • Personally I think it's more to do with having a good squad. If you are an amazing player on a terrible team the chances are you aren't going to win.
Obviously skill helps but a skilled team is where it's at. I think there should be a ranked playlist for the guys who want to be competitive.
