So I just learned something

Hipfiring in at least Apex SUCKS!

so I went ahead and used firing range. No big whoop. Tried to see how I murdered ppl with the mastiff the other day cause someone said it has a precision choke built in... it actually does... spread is still big but you can 50 or 75 dmg someone from at least 50 feet away.

I picked up a Kraber, aimed for the head... first shot missed and I was like ‘okay maybe slightly moved’, second shot missed again and was already like ‘yup this shouldn’t be’ so I aimed down sight from exactly same position and shot... shot went between where the dummy’s eyes would’ve been if he had some, then hip fire again, missed...

so whats the deal. I know the character has some breathing sway, but if the dot is right in the middle and you hipfire and it misses all shots, but if you ADS it hits all, something’s not right in my opinion.

This is not a burst or full auto weapon. It’s one shot. If you hipfire or ads from same position at a stillstanding enemy all shots should hit him, or else it’s inconsistent.

Or is there something to this in other shooters?

try it yourself if you don’t believe me. Stand some 16 metres (53 feet) and shoot at the dummy with the kraber...

  • Every weapon is different. Some weapons seem to be dead accurate on hip fire, others are not. Instead of a single dot, imagine a circle. On hip fire your bullet will end up on a random location within that circle. Bigger circle = less accurate

I would say that this is how it should be, and I actually feel hip firing in apex is a lot more effective/accurate than other shooters.

The wingman actually started out dead accurate on hip fire and got nerfed quickly, it was way to op.

How about this, try holding any real rifle or pistol of any kind on your hip and test your hipfire accuracy versus your aim down sights accuracy.

Hipfire being inaccurate is how its meant to be.

@-BiA-Pesqez I know each weapon is different but explain the logic that a dot, not a circle, a dot which is meant to be your ‘dead center aim’, instead of some guns which have a pattern, doesn’t connect with a target but as soon as you aim down sight in the same place it connects. Makes no sense whatsoever.

I understand your wingman argument cause I was using wingman in beginning too, but thats why I raised my point. This is a single fire weapon with a dot where the bullet ‘should go’ given no (semi)auto fire.

In real life you don’t have a single dot that tells you where the middle is from where you shoot. In FPS’ you already don’t aim your gun like in RL and besides that, when you single fire with any other weapons you actually hit the targets more times than not. Especially with snipers.

I know, I know snipers are heavy, yada yada, but I hardly think in this game that they account for weight.

@Extremejinks The point of aiming down sights is 2 sided. One you have more control over your weapon which also gives you more accuracy, but on the other hand, you (should) lose movement speed.

If the dot didn’t represent where the first bullet would go, why have a dot at all and not a pattern like most guns that the bullet could go anywhere in that pattern’s radius.
