I'll be dropping out, after almost 5000 hours played. One heirloom. And shards for another one.I get it that you need revenues to keep the game and servers alive, but this is just too cash-grabby for my taste. You removed the free battlepass for EA Pro members, and now you're removing even more.It was a good run. I was never great. But at least people like me filled the lobbies and served as decent enough cannon fodder. Guess I'll have to find some other game to scratch that fast paced FPS itch I get.

Hey everyone !

I have a quick question for the community. Since Apex Legends was released, have you been buying the Battle Pass with real money each season, or do you save up the gold coins you earn in the current BP to get the next season's Battle Pass for free?

@nibilki5 Used the coins. Ever since season 3. Paying for a bp (twice) every season isn't worth it. I literally only bought it to begin with because it was a one-time purchase, due to the coins, and thus had good value. Just like I don't buy skins, as they don't offer any kind of value either. When you can buy an entire AAA game for the price of some event skin, then it's just poor value.

Usually I save some coin. Just took a break in season 5. And there was a Watty skin once I really wanted, so spent the coin I had saved on that, and bought the next BP. But generally, I pay with my time as lobby filler and cannon fodder.

...as such, I'll be quitting after this season.

I usually try to save the coins for something I want, then buy the BP if I want it.
Genuine question- If you only play the game to complete the battlepass are you having fun?
Another one- If in 5 years of game time you have only spent $10 on the game, do you realistically expect a game to survive?
Oh and for the record I think doubling the cost and making the BP cash only are mistakes but I fully understand it is a business. For me, I haven't been buying BPs the last couple seasons unless I actually got to the end just by playing. And that's not going to happen this season. I likely won't buy the new passes unless there's something in them I want and I naturally play enough to complete them.

I don't get grinding for whatever it is that's in a battle pass any more than I get grinding for ranks. I understand it's a thing people do. And even profess to enjoy. But I will never understand the people who say that these are the reasons they play the game. If the game isn't enough in and of itself, then honestly... people should find a better game.

B. "so we HAVE to pay, and HAVE to pay TWICE..." is in fact untrue. The game plays just as poorly for those who pay nothing as it does for those who funnel thousands of dollars into developer bank accounts.

I remember a fellow forum member once suggesting that I was playing the game for the wrong reasons, and he was right in that context. It applies in this one as well. If the thing that's keeping you playing is a battle pass grind for cosmetics then you probably needed a break from the game anyway. Take a season off and see if, at the end of it, you feel an itch to come back. If the itch says, "I need more skins" then don't listen to it. If it says, "I miss the game play" then it's time to come back and enjoy the game without the battle pass.

I'll concede, I was a tad imprecise. What I meant was to be able to get more than the bare minimum, as it used to be - one has to pay. There's no way to earn a battle pass, as it has been.

And don't get me wrong. I'll probably miss the game. There's really nothing like it, with movement mechanics. Pretty consistent weapons (no arbitrary rebalancing all the time). I like the variation that's been introduced, with different LTMs - on top of regular pubs and ranked. Game has it's flaws, but if those were important - I'd probably left ages ago. Also, I'm not good enough (or have time enough) to get into cheater lobbies, so I've never really felt the cheater problem.

My issue here, is just the monetization of a game that I love. How they've been doing a Vader on this now twice, counting also the EA Pro change. "Pray I don't alter the deal any further...".

With some of the events and items being staggeringly expensive, and now a "double priced BP", it's just the straw that broke the camel's back for me.

While I know many devs and artists at Respawn have been doing hard work, the game has in many ways also stagnated into another cash grab. A few new maps here and there, good maps. A few changes to old maps here and there, and good changes. But servers are basically the same as they've been, for better or worse. And there are tons and tons and tons and tons of cosmetics. Some good cosmetics, but it seems that a lot of effort goes into just filling the loot table - and the number of white and blue items I've gotten, really doesn't inspire me to follow along with the change. I have no trust in what's going on.

But I'll miss the game. The game's fun. I just can't connect with the business side of things anymore.
