"Statement" regarding the botting issue

Hello everyone!

I've seen so many posts about it, I'm sure you guys have noticed it.

I'm talking about the botting issue of course.

Maybe some of you have experienced them in-game or heard about it from others.

One thing is clear though, it's a significant issue that has been affecting many of us.

And well, it seems like you guys would like to know if they're working on this or at the very least if they're aware of the matter.

Good news, I've got a promising update on the situation!

Today I reached out to RSPN_Iron (Game Security Analyst) and asked if they were aware of the botting issue.

They pretty much confirmed that they were aware of the problem and have already started banning some of the XP farming bots.

(Not sure how much this will mean, though it's definitely something)

Hopefully we'll see some more developments on the matter, though for now we know that it's being looked into.

  • @XHelperZ"we banned alot of them already"

bruh, create a new account, finish the tutorial, and orientation and hop into a game. Dont touch kb and mouse just let it drop by itself and watch...
wdym we already banned a lot of them?!?!?!
why isn't it being detected automatically and banning them or just isolating them into their own lobbies?
Only by observing them - 99% of the time they'll be very generic and ultra-repetitive bots that do exactly the same things at the same time intervals, not even randomized or anything sophisticated.
Honestly, at this point, I think that EA wants those bots to stay for the traffic because I literally can't find any other explanations.

Exactly as you said, they already banned a lot of them.

There are just so many bots, banning like 100 will barely make a dent in the numbers.

People are running vm's with over 20 accounts being farmed at the same time, if one gets banned then they simply replace it with a newer account.

I'm sure automatic detection is already partly in place (though note that this usually needs extended testing to make sure normal players don't get detected) though due to the amount of bots it'll be one of two things.

Takes time before a detection system flags such behaviour and again with people making new accounts.

I don't think this would be a major priority for them though, as they don't really ruin competitive integrity, etc.

Depending on factors like region and the matchmaker, bots might not really be that common thus lowering the priority even further.

In this case I'd believe waiting would be the best option to do though.

With the release of S17, selling accounts to be "ranked ready" will become much harder as the minimum required level for ranked will be 50.

If they wait with doing a banwave with the season release in combination with better algorithms to detect these things then they'll get the most out of it.

Because putting in automated systems to go against these bots at this moment in time will probably result in them using more sophisticated software which might be harder to pick up on.

By waiting they'd practically waste the time of the ones farming these bots and it would probably hit their marketplace the most, albeit at the cost of some players having to encounter these bots in-game.

If I'm right with this strategy then I wouldn't think of it as bad.

  • @XHelperZ You're just way too optimistic.
As i said those bots are 100% repetitive from my observations.
Im pretty sure its some public code even, they all act the same.
with a fresh account, you'll stumble upon 4-10 bots in one lobby till you get your KD a bit higher.
