Stop asking for the S4 flatline skin!

Stop asking for its return because it's getting nerfed. Actually surprised with this decision. Rather than squeezing more of our wallets by reselling a pay-to-win flatline skin, they nerfed the S4 battlepass flatty skin. This will absolutely get some backlash but for me, this is an uncommon W for Respawn.

Not only that, but we're getting an updated Firing Range. Look at the second post of this thread.

With the launch of Beasts of Prey, we're further adjusting iron sights on some skins, including the Flatline skin, Heat Sink. Read on to learn about the team's approach to improving the competitive integrity of iron sights now and in the future.

Competitive integrity is and will always be a core pillar for Apex Legends. As part of that, our default iron sights are designed to push players to loot for better optics. We also believe that skins shouldn't be a factor in the sights functionality as well. During Season 4, we released the Heat Sink reactive skin for the VK-47 Flatline rifle and we heard feedback from some players that the Aim Down Sights (ADS) felt superior to any other skin available.

To make things as fair as possible, we wanted to address feedback for the Heat Sink skin and also update other skins we thought could be improved.

Another example of a skin we’ve updated is the Flatline “Revelations” skin from the Gaiden Event. We felt the side fins were creating larger blindspots than intended so we’ve reduced them to improve visibility when ADS.

We believe that any competitive edge in Apex Legends should be gained by honing your skills and not due to any perceived advantages from buying gun skins.  As our good friend Kuben Blisk puts it: "You kill me, you're better. I kill you, I'm better." We hope players who own these skins will appreciate these improvements and support us as we work to keep Apex Legends fun and fair.

  • @Kyldenar It's all fair in the fine print, but just because they can does not mean they should. It leaves a bad taste. The longer people will allow it to happen the longer it will continue to happen which is what @DankToliet is essentially getting at I believe.

I've been looking to make a point like this in one of these threads for a little while now.  There's an old adage:  "Just because you CAN do something, doesn't mean you SHOULD do it."

It's too soon to say for sure, but I believe that Respawn might end up paying dearly for this decision - either monetarily, in terms of the goodwill of the player base, or both.

@Unitee01 Yep, how far will/can they take this and do this not just to iron sights? It won't stop here, if we don't do something.

@pandareno1999 If they deny my refund request, they'll never get a penny from me again. As a day 1 player with 3 heirlooms and multiple/not all Battle passes, it's been a costly hobby.

Are you totally new to online gaming? Things you 'paid for being changed, swapped, re-skinned, nerfed, outright taken away (looking at you Destiny 2 sunsetting) has been going on since the first days of WoW.

This is not new. This is not uncommon. This is not the first time it will be ignored, because as 'no-Apex-August' proved, you all will still play and be food for streamers anyway.

If the last few seasons of bad Matchmaking, bad sounds, and buggy LTMs have not killed the game, I doubt this will.

  • @Kyldenar Well I'm not sure what the point of your objection is?

You don't agree with what happens in gaming either, yet you don't like it when people speak up?
Are you saying there's no point in any of this? Why have any discussion on these forums then if none of it matters? We should just let the game run it's course then I guess in whatever direction it decides to go in.

We know it happens all over, doesn't make it right. And it only happens because people let it slide. This is our own fault, believe it or not. Destiny put a stop to sunsetting weapons in 2021 if I remember correctly, partially because of the backlash. And now they won't be sunsetting any of the expansions either. Seems they learnt something.

In fact, that EULA you agree to when playing has a passage about them changing or modifying the game code as they see fit:

"From time to time, EA may update, change or modify an EA Service, Content or Entitlements, without notice to you. These updates and modifications may be required in order to continue to use EA Services.

"EA may need to update, or reset certain parameters to balance game play and usage of EA Services. These updates or "resets" may cause you setbacks within the relevant game world and may affect characters, games, groups or other Entitlements under your control."

So, yeah, your argument continues to fall apart under logical scrutiny. So, again, if you are so good you didn't need the iron sights on the gun and the rest of the gun still looks the same, why are you upset about it?

This is actually very interesting. Nice find. Thanks.
