tap strafe not working

Last night I was playing Apex with some friends and I was tap strafing fine. I have been utilizing tap strafes for almost a year now so I am pretty good at it. But once I got off to eat dinner and got back on tap strafe no longer worked. I then got back on the next day which is today and it still doesn't work. I tried to reset binds and rebind everything and that didn't work. I then uninstall and reinstalled the game which didn't work. Then I tried to tap strafe with 3 other mouses and that still didn't work. I am not out of ideas. Please help this game is weird without movement.

  • @Zkepz once again the mouse isnt the problem since i used it to 180 tap strafe many times out the box and I also have its software. All low powermodes settings are off and the polling rate is at a 1000hz.
  • Nothing more then when I upgraded to Windows 11 all hell broke loose, amongst other things ms software for mouse took over so I had a few days of cleanup until stuff worked again.

Any update can mess up a myriad of things so just asking you to check ☺️

  • @Zkepz I am on windows 10 would you like to speak in a call. Maybe you could give me your discord?
  • Oh god im not a windows wiz, I only install windows for gaming and when I get something wrong I just reinstall it (I have no benefit knowing the platform as I cant use it in my work). Hence when I was checking for errors on my input stuff I ended up using a full day of trying to fix it before I magically manage to get it right after getting help.

If you have input issues in linux I can help, but I suspect that is not the case hehe. Just try reinstall your mouse software and flash the firmware, my problem was firmware related in conjuntion with win11, for some reason the mouse was in power save mode even if driver/pc software said something else so reinsalling the pc drivers/software and flashing the mouse and updating the settings fixed my issue.

  • @Zkepz hey man once again i tried on 2 completley different mouses which are the orochi v2 and the model o and they both seem to have the same problem in apex. So once again it is not my mouse but the game. Is their any way I can input more w's when i scroll? Like maybe go into the game files and mess with the movement?
  • Hello Se6d, I was having the exact same issue less than 2 hours ago. I had changed some in game settings as well as some steam settings. I tried my game on max graphics, max res, and capped my fps to 120 in steam, i normally play 240 fps with all low settings on 1280x800. I tried doing my usual 180 tap strafe wall jump and it wasnt working. This bugged tf out of me. Turns out, for some reason if you turn your settings up it for some reason can add input delay to the game that normally wouldnt be noticed. However, in the case of tap strafing where every milisecond matters, it becomes impossible to tap strafe properly. My advice to you is to make sure all your video settings are as low as possible and make sure fps isnt capped in steam. This should solve your problem.
