The state of the game right now is awful. But here's a $200 skin.

Really not sure what we're doing over there at EA. This season has been a huge disappointment. SBMM is an absolute mess, we were told Auto aim on controller's were being discussed to pivot from the controller meta 4 months ago and still no updates, Cheater's running rampant, Fresh account's with rookies playing against master player's. Seriously what is EA doing? Every single fight is just people insta beaming with a controller because everyone is abusing auto aim, even the pros who are insane on Mouse and Keyboard made the switch. This is no longer a PC game it's a console game. Then to top it all off you release an event with 0 rewards unless you spend money, not even a couple double take packs, just a garbage valkyrie skin and 50 blue essence. That's wild. There's a reason the double take event trailer got massively down voted. It's like you guys just don't care about the game, that's why were losing our playerbase, and pretty much a huge chunk of Mouse and Keyboard player's have dropped the game because of the ridiculous advantage of using a controller. Really sad to see the state of the game and EA doing absolutely nothing to fix it. You guys address literally NONE of these things and drop a skin for $200. There's way too many games on the market competing for player's time and money and this was just a smack in the face. The game isn't fun, the season isn't fun, extremely stingy with the rewards for events, just a huge cash grab and disrespectful to your player base. Overall a huge L. Sad to see it. Hopefully one day this game get's better, not sure how we haven't learned after 5 years. Really unfortunate.

I like your observation that while mnk motion can be incredible, that most mnk players can't achieve that level of performance. I get that entirely because it says exactly what I believe to be true about controller aa, which has never once in 23 years of shooters behaved for me the way the mnk people claim it acts on them when used by a pc controller player. In both cases I believe we're just talking about a small number of very high caliber players. Or cheaters. I don't like the idea of using cheaters as the crutch answer for everything that goes wrong in the game or for anything I can't fully wrap my mind around. But given the current state of anti-cheat and the million different ways a player can cheat without consequence, it just makes more sense to me. Aimbot seems a lot more plausible than "Guy with controller locked onto me and one clipped me." That just isn't how aa works at all. In my experience.

I agree that the game is hostile to new players, but I never played any game that wasn't after about the one year mark. With shooters you basically get in on the ground floor or you forget about it and move on to something that's new so you're doing the learning curve with everyone else and not after everyone else. Certainly not years after everyone else.

@reconzero Even for arguments sake lets say everyone is just really good, there still should be matchmaking, while im for sure rusty i did play the first few years so im not a new player i just stopped playing for a couple years. Its possible that everyone just got way better but if thats the case I wouldn't see why all the mnk players would just drop the game. I do think there is some merit in saying AA is an issue, especially when you start modding your controller to add scripts which as far as im aware respawn hasn't said is against the rules, so its very possible people are abusing these systems to make them better than they actually are. While I understand where you're coming from if there wasn't a drastic advantage on controller I really doubt all of the mnk professional players would of made the switch. At the end of the day though it doesn't really matter, we can talk semantics over and over but a large chunk of the playerbase is really unhappy with the game state, and like you said most will just drop the game and move on, which is sad because I do like the game but I don't like feeling gimped when I play. There needs to be some middle ground where both MnK and Controller player's both feel good about their input systems, and again, I think a input based Queue is the solution. As far as cheater's there will always be cheaters in fps games but they are doing a pretty bad job trying to contain them. If were talking about Player experience overall its a huge letdown. I think the game still has amazing potential but the people running it are clueless unfortauntely. But it is what it is, hopefully it gets better soon.

Back to the topic : The State of the game.
Besides looking on the Steam Charts daily (its not really funny to look at), i took a peek on the Ranked Distribution on both apexlegendstatus and tracker.gg.
And what can i say, it makes those steam numbers not as frightening anymore, bcs those Tracker figures are way more concerning.
I hope this is a bug in the APIs , but Apexleged Status tracks 2.2 Mio Players this season (which was way above 3 Mio last time i checked S17-S19)
and tracker.gg numbers are deep down in the basement , they usually tracked around 4 to 5 Mio players at peak, now those numbers are down to 640K !!!
I guess the tracker.gg numbers are buggy, but the other ones should be pretty solid ... 1 Mio ranked players less ... "That's a lot of damage !"

"There needs to be some middle ground where both MnK and Controller player's both feel good about their input systems, and again, I think a input based Queue is the solution."

Could not agree more, although this does nothing to solve the pc input problem. It only gets mnk out of my xbox lobbies.

"I do think there is some merit in saying AA is an issue, especially when you start modding your controller to add scripts"

You may have hit the nail on the head here. I don't believe for a second that aa does what mnk players say, but I think the second you layer actual cheats on top of it (yes, scripts are cheats) then suddenly those players become not just slightly more dangerous but far more dangerous.

"As far as cheater's there will always be cheaters in fps games"

I remember back in the day when (at least on console) people would find ways to cheat, but the dev would catch them and ban them. Now there's an entire industry, and a lucrative one at that, built up around cheating and not getting caught. And publisher anti-cheat is something akin to the little dutch boy sticking his finger in the *. At any rate, I'm coming to believe that rampant and unaddressable cheating is just the new normal. Deliberately sandbag your performance to stay in lower-skilled lobbies and avoid the cheaters, or take them on and lose. A lot. That's sad, but there you have it.
  • @saMuxTV Hey there, lets try and break this down. So the state of the game can be struggling in some areas you are correct with that in my personal viewing.

Here is where my trouble comes in and something players seem to not think of. So there are many teams for apex. Those teams can only work on the specific things their team is set to handle. Keep in mind also some issues literally in a game with most likely close to a million lines of code some issues can be quite hard to find. Its a needle in a haystack type of game for them. So just because one teams area is having issues does not mean other teams should halt their duties and not do what they are required to do.

Pretty much to put it very simple the concept is like so.

Walks into wal-mart you can see the cash register line is struggling and it ends up shutting down for the time being. By most players logic they seem to think along the lines of.... Well they better go tell the stock boy to stop stocking up we got a register down. Just not how any company works or operates.

Somethings clearly wrong with Apex since a couple of months.
My bet is that the netcode has issues with the current situation apex is in.
So many weird incidents that boil down to faulty client prediction, like getting shot through doors that arent open yet ... the typical you get shot BEFORE you can actually see the enemy, even if you have a super low ping, or you peek and get hit with a full mag in milliseconds (literally impossible).
Doors and Loot-bins that open only at the 2nd or 3rd try, ghost movement like if you get pulled by a wire even if you dont move at all, all without any network error indications.

And that stuff cant be all cheating, bcs when i later spectate those players , it all looks normal ,  but the fight against me didnt feel real at all m,ore like the enemy hit me with 150% acc.

Sounds like the Client-Prediction for other players is way ahead of your client prediction, leading to no-regs , missing/late audio , ect.
Its not in every game, but in a lot of them. My bet is : overbooked/bad servers combined with too many players playing on a high ping in the same  lobby destroy the game for low ping players.
