Now that's a deep think.
I can only reiterate by saying what the Buddhists say: "All desire is pain. All pain is desire."
I guess the one desire worth pursuing during our time on this plane is the desire to be of service to others. I think that's more or less where you were headed there toward the end. It's a hard ethos to work into this game. The only real avenue - that I can think of - is to try to be as good a teammate as possible. I've tried that. I try it a lot. I fail a lot. Sometimes it's on me. Sometimes, though, teammates don't want a good teammate. They only want an enabler. At that I definitely fail.
I guess the trophy I hope to take away one day is that I finally realized that I can't use this game as a medium for connecting to other people in ways I think are constructive and satisfying. And I'll stop playing. Until then it's just pain and desire. Desire and pain.
The concept of buddha is interesting but really shallow, Its not your desires that are flawed, Its the desires of your desires, Intention. So to speak, If you are being wrong with someone but with a good intention. Then you werent wrong with them in the first place. Desires are like tools which you can use for good or bad depending on your will and intention. Think of intimacy for an instance. You can use it to bring enjoyment for both you and your partners and make strong bonds with them. Or you can use it as a selfish need where the other person gets harmed in the process. It all depends on your will. Will is like a fountain. It can flow freely and selfishly. Or you can redirect it to sink other beings. Ego then, Must be the opposite force of harmony. Its the same force that draws magnets away from each other should they both face in the same direction. Its not negative neither positive. Its the very force against life itself. A very powerful psychic force that works as an anti static and disables all energy it ever touches. This is where humans built the concept of satan. Satan isnt a red demon dude with horns dwelling in the most darkest areas in earth. He is no other than YOU. Your very will. Someone sees a field. And they build farms, Houses, And factories. Another one build drugs and weapons facilities. Your will. Your decisions. Your freedom. Your choice.

Sorry I could only like that once.
I like the idea that intentions matter. Maybe not as much as outcomes... I guess that would depend on the particular faith or philosophy to which one subscribes. It veers a little close to the idea that you can, in fact, behave poorly, give the devil sway, and then everything's alright as long as you didn't really mean it or repent for it in the end or some such.
But you're still right. Intentions DO matter. With Apex, as an example, my DESIRE is always to pretend my teammates don't exist. My INTENTION, though, is to help them in what limited ways I feel that I can. The OUTCOME is usually some deeply flawed version of the ideal. So I usually end up feeling like I did what I could, like it wasn't enough, and like I should try to do more. But I've been down that road and I know from experience that often times what helps others ends up costing me. That's a mindset I need to break out of. It's a game. There is no cost.
So maybe that's my trophy? Stop stressing about bad outcomes - which of course are inevitable - and focus more on the journey. Hmmmmmm. I'll have to chew on that a while.
