Thoughts on backpack changes?
I just want to hear other people’s feedback on these stackable items changes to the backpack. What would you keep, what would you change, and why?
Me, I say keep the amount of spaces backpacks have now, and change the small health items (syringes/shield cells) to the way they were.
I agree with the devs decision to change the backpack space, being able to carry so much ammo and 6 batteries and medkits and a Phoenix and a stack of nades or two with one good backpack was too easy.
Now though, you’re always running out of something. Ammo, small heals, big heals, nades, always something. Taking long range fights for too long or being downed DRAINS your heals and drastically lowers your chance of winning.
One benefit of these changes though is that no one carries too many grenades anymore. But it came with a big drawback, completely nerfing wattson’s utility. Since no one is carrying grenades, she’s less useful of a character with a pretty low pick rate to begin with. If they reverted the small heals change, that would free up one to two more slots for grenades for each player (with a decent backpack) making her somewhat useful again, and long games more comfortable for players taking longer range fights. And players like me who like to carry extra heals and ammo than usual will at least be able to carry one grenade with a decent backpack. Nades will still remain a last priority pick for most players, especially with a small backpack.
For example, whenever you get downed, if you don’t have two stacks of small heals or any big heals, your entire stockpile of healing items is drained completely (or if you still have a small backpack that can’t carry much of ammo and basic heals, much less Phoenix kits and med kits). Even if you did have two stacks of syringes and cells, you’ve lost half of your items (4 syringes+cells) alone just healing yourself back to full health if you had 100 shield.
