Fortnite is easy to tell the player population because it’s public and all the player counts are displayed for each mode. They def aren’t declining there, depending on the season they are still hitting several millions active at one given point in time. Pubg is tougher to tell since all we have are steam numbers but that also shows their monthly peaks are about 100k higher than they were this time last year as to where apex is very evidently losing players.
apex’s biggest problem imo isn’t just keeping players. It’s that it isn’t getting new players and when they do they quit pretty early on because the new player experience in this game is horrendous. Unless they come up with a system to get new players playing and actually sticking with the game it’s just going to continue slowly bleeding.
the game doesn’t need an apex 2, but doing what Fortnite does and did might help, instead of just keeping it rolling with apex season whatever maybe it’s time for them to hit it with their own version of apex chapter 2, or apex 2.0. Make some fairly large changes to hero’s, change up the map pool, vault some weapons and introduce some new ones, upgrade servers and it’ll def bring a huge influx of players. But that’s also easy for me to say.

Imagine playing only the same single map for the full season and still get excited about it like they do in Fortnite...
The thing with the Fortnite popularity is the community created game modes / Unreal editor.
For example the Fortnite version of OnlyUp parkour game had bigger or similar daily player numbers as Apex has for a short period of time.
By opening up the game for people to make their own games they are able to cater to whatever you feel like.
Somedays you might not feel like playing PvP battle royale so there are so many other options to do.- hayhor8 months agoHero@Airish85 All that gives players more options. Apex has more options. They just don't allow us to pick. Why is mixtape a thing? Why aren't control, gun run and tdm seperate modes?

"Options" 😃
Real options would be to give players all the R5 movement tech maps, Halo gun/map modes (R5 Reloaded), maybe some racing game modes, PvE vs Prowlers swarm survival, Arena maps with zero Q time on Path etc. And the beauty with Fortnite is that the devs dont have to do any of the work on these thanks to the creative modes & unreal editor.
Why is it always so serious? Why do I need to sweat it to stay in the SoloQ PvP rat race? I am older than the average player and I play for fun. If I try to fool around ("not locked in") for the fun of it, I get insulted by teammates who expect me to take it seriously and lock in.
"We don't stop playing because we grow old; we grow old because we stop playing."
And I stop playing when I am not having fun.But yes I do agree with you.
