Top 5 Streak
If a teammate or teammates disconnect prior to the match (you are duo queueing or solo queueing) in Ranked Leagues, then your Top-5 streak should NOT be penalized. Similar to “RP loss protection” applied to players when this occurs, the Top-5 streak should be preserved in the same circumstances. At this time, the teammates that remain connected to the match have the option to one of the following:
- Leave the game without any ban, suspension, or RP loss
- Continue the match as a broken squad with RP loss protection
Unfortunately, these players are subject to lose their Top-5 streak regardless of which option they choose.
Personally, I am really loving the way ranked played this past split! Seems like the game is in a good spot and back on the right trajectory. This is just a subtle change that could have a significant impact on both ranked match integrity and increase the importance of placement in end game scenarios. This issue with Top-5 streaks has been on my mind since Top-5 streaks first were introduced years ago, but was (for obvious reasons) not one of the pressing issues at the time. Cheers!
