Undocumented features? Bugs? Exploits?
So, in the positive play charter which popped up when I logged into apex today, it said “Don’t use exploits, cheats, undocumented features, design errors, bugs, or problems to get a leg up on others.
Ok, I understand cheats. That makes sense, but what in the world does “undocumented features” mean? Does that include wall bouncing and other more advanced movement tech? Because I know that wasn’t in the tutorial. Sliding into a jump to conserve momentum wasn’t in the tutorial, but you learn it by playing the game, by practicing. Which of these techniques are or aren’t allowed?
Is using Valkyrie’s jet pack to negate fall stun a bug? An exploit, a feature? If it’s a feature does it count as documented or undocumented? Many players know about it, there are videos about it, I didn’t see EA document it specifically so…?
What defines an exploit? If I hop in a match and then leave, or throw myself of the map, because my challenges say play games as loba, is that an exploit? It gains in game items via battle pass progression.
I picked some stupid examples to show elaborate my point, but this is all rather vague and confusing. I’m a team player who likes to follow the rules, but when the rules are as undefined as this it is extremely frustrating.
- @Waybe97 All(most?) movement techs are given a clear pass. They might remove it in future, but till then you are free to use it.
Example- Bunny hop healing used to be a thing but was removed later.
As in unintended ability interactions like Sheila/Crypto, Jumppad/Gibby shield or Gas trap/Gibby shield are exploits. You may not get banned while doing them in pubs, but don't do it in ranked. Most of us would know what to classify as 'exploits'.
There was a 'infinite heat shield' exploit that some used in ranked to sit outside the ring for as long as they wished and win for free. They were banned or demoted whatever that was.
