Vantage seems kind of boring
And I don't mean because her mother is more interesting in the lore.
I haven't played with her a lot, so I'll just caveat myself right off the bat with that. The passive I have to really still see if it matters in a game. The bat is a creative idea, but it is a pain to use. To be escaping with it in combat looks to be a massive pain, I suppose you're to leave it somewhere and use it for a quick escape but seriously, that's just a lot of game time to learn to be effective with, even if you can.
The ultimate, frankly, seems to suck. Again, I like the idea of making snipers better, particularly if it helps team members and not just you. But that's, as we know in a game where people do not care about their mates as much as themselves, a recipe for disaster. Aside from that, presuming you live in the fake believe land of teamwork, it makes you and your team have to play a particular way, which I am not sure that people want to do, even when they're all actually somehow communicating on mic.
The damage boost is pretty substantial, but let's remember you have to hit your target with Vantage to matter. And...then...you're doing it with your crappy vantage rifle. It's not super crappy, but it's basically Longbow, ish, with 5 shots max. I guess you could think of it as a +1 weapon, because it doesn't take up a slot which is nice. But I found it really underwhelming unless you got a sniper brah who could also manage to hit targets at your side.
Restricting loadouts to make a legend work I think is a terrible idea to lay on team mates. It's one thing if you want to run Maggie, who isn't that powerful, but runs good with shotguns...because at least some shotguns are actually good in the game. The LMG boost for Rampart is meh, but still, it's on her and there's not a lot wrong with a Spitfire, even if the energy LMGs pretty much suck. But those things are also passives, and again, they don't ask your team mates to skew to those weapons.
Vantage is like sort of naively hoping people work together. I mean, if you want to have a game where you preload with 3 total, and never have solos, this is a +1 to that, but then again, why are people who play as solos caring about this game again. Vantage is not helping. Lastly, to be redundant, if her abilities were not just fun ideas, but fun in game, I could see putting up with it. Right now, seems like rolling a rock uphill.
