In season 7 patch notes the devs have admitted that they are HAPPY with having a legend that only works in a very few select matches. This is ridiculous as pubs is the game mode selected most and having a legend they’ve admitted to being severely underpowered in this aspect is disgusting, they should not accept having a legend that only works in ranked not only that they have noted that the fences don’t work in high level ranked, which they admitted where she is only played! They say that this 5 extra damage will increase her pick rate but this is ridiculous to think, low level players will not be bothered about this and wattson will stay in high level ranked legend where the devs admitted the fences don’t work meaning this buff is USELESS! Yet again wattson have been d**led over by respawn and everything goes into wraith. Disgusting

Uhmmm is this thread still alive? I think this thread is now more relevant after olympus. I can't use her in this map. The only time Wattson was effective for me was my squad was holding out the middle of the rift/portals from anyone going through it. Any suggestions on how to use her more effectively in Olympus?

I would like to note wattson is my main and I love her but she’s underpowered compared to everyone else and it makes me so sad knowing the legend I always use will not be made better in pub play, which is where she needs a buff

Sorry, as a Wattson main, camping is not an issue to break in Apex, nor will it save you. Not in a ring game. It’s not.Having said that, what game developers can’t get through their skulls is people don’t play as teams, even in team games. So when you make a character that thrives only on good teams, it’s under picked and underpowered. Crypto, sane thing. Rampart, even worse.Perfect example: There was a thread on favorite abilities, passives and ultra recently. NONE people picked abilities that would be powerful with a team only. It was all zip line, wraith abilities and bloodhound abilities...so, yeah, people might want to work with a team, and help a team with their own abilities...but they also prefer to have abilities that also can be use to only help themselves the most. When most people say they want to play with good team mates, what they mean is you should follow them, do what they want you to do, and pick characters that will buff them while you go down.

@KelRiever Thank you, someone who understands the pain of being a wattson main, I just want her to be useful is more scenarios and be more fun to play. I love her to bits but sometime it just feels like you’re using only your skill versus their skill and their abilities, it’s not a fair match up

@xMaxrayx You’re going completely off the mark the point is that wattson needs a change to make her useful in something other than ranked, sure we can just play ranked but that would get boring, respawn can’t just have characters that only works with a small percentage of gameplay, lifeline is a perfect example she can be used in ranked or pubs and can be used well in both wattson doesn’t have this luxury. If you mained wattson you’d understand that camping is not fun and when respawn has created her entire set up around this it’s a pain, imo she’s the best character in the game for her voice lines and design but she doesn’t pull through skill wise and for respawn to say they’re happy with this is disheartening. I want to be able to play pubs with her and I want to push, my friends play bloodhound, wraith, lifeline, loba, octane its not fair I am made to sit back and watch everything happen or it’s not fair they have to sit back watching all the other fights go off and doing nothing. The way wattson is meant to be played is not fun and she needs a change, I was hoping for something like passive shield healing like octane or maybe she does double shield heals, it would make her such a better pubs player and she could finally push into a building and take it with ease. that’s how I’d want her to be designed, not a camper but someone who captures buildings and traps people in.

@AlexCross2408 She suffers the same issue as any other legend with static abilities in public games unfortunately.
The avg random teammate has zero patience to utilise your skillset and will just mindlessly rampage at the nearest gunfire they hear.
I played wattson a lot during S2, combined with my pathfinder bud using survey beacons we would play fairly aggressive until the late circles, ensure we were there first and set up a mean defence, which was hugely successful tactic at the time.
He quit mid season 3 leaving me with random players and wattson just became a nightmare to use due to the utter luck of any organisation or willingness to work as a team lol.
Ramparts got the same problem....you'll place walls in nice spots overlooking end circles and your randoms will stand next to the damn things shooting rather than utilising them.
As with most things apex...the legend isn't the problem, its the playerbase.

@MandatoryIDtag Even with a premade squad camping still isn’t fun, setting a mean defence can work a lot of the time but pushing and getting kills is the most fun, I’m trying to get a 20 kill badge and with wattson it’s so hard, I could wait till next season start in bronze get a sniper and get it that way but that’s no fun, pushing and demolishing everyone is what makes apex apex. Sometimes I do have games where I camp but it’s just not fun and I want wattson to have something (even it’s small) that can help her in pushing, like Gibraltar’s arm shield or caustics throwable ultimate, wattson has niether of those things. Rampart doesn’t either and no one plays her, she’s unfun it’s a pain that the devs just want her to be used in an unfun environment. If my squad is from a solo queue or it’s premade she still has the same issues, if you camp it’s boring, if you push it’s difficult. In this case wattson is the issue. They cannot have a character that’s so appallingly one dimentional when that one thing she’s brilliant at is boring and unfun. Not only that camping is toxic and it makes the game unfun for everyone. No one likes going against a camper or playing one. That’s just how it is

@AlexCross2408 You've misunderstood me slightly i think, there was literally no camping, taking up a final circle is key to winning a match more often than not, plenty of teams will work towards that goal regardless of how aggressively they've played up until that point.
When you've got 2-3 teams focused on you at end circle because of where you are there's a lot of scope for kills, especially when you've played aggressively throughout the map before reaching this point.
Still viable as a tactic but near impossible with randoms.
From what I've gathered so far though the bottom line here is that you're playing a legend out of aesthetic preference rather than a skill set preference, which essentially means you're always going to have the frustration of not having the right tools to fit your playstyle.
Wattson won't be receive any major changes due to her ranked efficiency.....so you'll either have to adapt more to the legend or pick a new one. :S
