What’s going on with the matchmaking?!

Hi Community,

I just wanted to see if anyone is having similar issues to me when playing Apex.

I am a player with an overall KD Ration of 0.84 and have played around 2K games in total. I main Bloodhound.

This season for me has been very hard to understand. My KD Ratio overall for Season 5 is 1.00. I have reached the 2000 Damage mark 3/4 times and am sitting in Platinum 4 in ranked (which I can’t get out of). When I load up into lobbies I am being chucked in with Pred/Master/Diamond level players all with the 4K Damage Badge and the 20Kill badge.

Please can someone explain to me why this is the case? I’m not where near that level, they come into my games and have a field day with Kills and Damage and genuinely wipe the floor clean in these lobbies. This happened every single game near enough.

Is SBMM really the way this works? Is anyone else having the same problem? Please let me know below!

@rockyboy1998 Those are not bad numbers. Average damage and KD is around 300 and 1 for an average player anything above that and you’re doing better than most. KD of 6 and damage of 1200 a round would be top tier skills.

The gun combos are not bad and you’re prioritizing the stocks right. Keep in mind stocks improve the holster speed and you get more benefit by placing them on heavier guns.

Barrels improve recoil so they should go on the higher recoil guns first.

Bloodhound is a middle of the road legend. Top tier legends are Wraith, Path and Wattson. They all take some skill and a lot of practice to get good with. If you decide to make the switch, watch some tutorials on youtube.

The advantages might be small, but in this game small advantages = a big difference.

@rockyboy1998 Yes, that's how SBMM works. But it will place you in easier/moderate lobbies if you do badly in the said lobbies. I would say more than half my games are like what you said.
Yes everyone is a victim of SBMM harassment.

@rockyboy1998 "high skill" does not always mean good rounds. I matched with a Predator last night. Perfect drop.. He was definitely having a bad round. I had to revive him 4 times and he hardly hit 900 damage.

@BaldWraithSimp Hmmm, I’m not too sure. Because I will repeatedly blank / die early doors maybe 4-5 games in a row and these lobbies still persist.

In my personal opinion, I should never see a Master / Pred level player and should only see diamonds here and there.

The SBMM on Apex doesn’t work and that’s a fact.

@rockyboy1998 In ranked? I’ve made up to a out Platinum 3 solo queuing. But I don’t really grind ranked much.

Non ranked? I’m probably slightly above average. I have 2k badges and so on. Need a Triple Triple and 20 bomb. Do I make the difficult lobbies? Sometimes, I’ve definitely been in lobbies with 6+ pred trails coming out the drop ship. I’m just not consistent, I’m very streaky. Some nights I’ll constantly break 1200 damage, other nights not so much.

@DarthValtrex Ok, that means with a premade squad you would probably make Diamond / Master.

In PUBS I will be very lucky to see myself hit 1000+ damage I find every single lobby of mine very tough and can’t get a break away from it.

IMO- I don’t think I should ever drop with players who are Pred / Master level. I don’t think I should ever drop with players who have the 20Kill Badge and the 4K damage badge when I can’t get anywhere near it.

@rockyboy1998Why not?! I’d play with you. I’m fairly confident our skill is averaged as a team.

What legends and guns are you opting for? How are you prioritizing attachments? If you have a purple stock and a R-99 and a Hemlock which gun gets the purple stock?
how frequently do you have 1k games? In the 900-1100 damage range?

what’s your win ratio like? Just take the total number of wins you have a divide it against the total number of games you’ve played. Move the decimal over 2 places and you have your percentage. example 1/10= .10 or a 10% win ratio.
If you’re above 5% you’re an above average player.

@DarthValtrex What platform do you play on?

I main bloodhound, I have hit 2K damage+ 3times with him this season. I have also played mirage and hit 2000 damage with him.

Gun Combos:
R301 & R99
Hemlok (Single Fire) & R99
R301 & R301
R301 & Mastiff
To answer you question about the purple stock, I would put the stock on the Hemlok.

I don’t frequently hit 900-1100, if I do hit them figures I think to myself “Wow, I’ve had a great game”
Win Ratio:
Overall =
137 Wins in 1.99k Games so let’s say 1995 games
137 divided by 1995 = 0.0686
Season 5 =
37 Wins in 496 Games
37 divided by 496 = 0.0745
Does that help? I’m not good at maths haha

@rockyboy1998 Lol that's why i dont play this game like before take wingman and try hard is must xd I love play with different gun and chilling around but u can't do that's with masters and predators
y and the worst thing if the game give me teamates under 150 lvl and the others squads 2 master with 300 lvl player! cmon game wtf xd.
