What's the point of Split Ranked?
Genuinely asking, I understand how it works but can't quite understand what is the reason on why Respawn introduced this new format.

Reasons:
1. Community is basically begging for King Canyon.
2. If they give you two maps and let you to choose between them then it's become harder to find players in match making size the pool reduce by half.
3. Some players just stick with one map and you can't measure their level credibility if they only master 1 map and barely touch other map.
4. Once people reached their rank, they never touch rank anymore. Soft reset force them to keep grinding.
5. For predator, it's become FULL-TIME JOB to keep above 500.
As stated in the EA blog post on the ranked changes, the changes to ranked and the addition of a mid season split with this update was to maintain engagement with the ranked gamemode. In prior seasons, players would grind to their target rank, and then stop playing ranked mode once they achieved it. By keeping the same rough length ofbth e series, but dividing into two splits punctuated by soft rank resets, they hope to keep the ranked mode active throughout the entirety of the season.
