In a very weird and typical Respawn waffle, they said they were going to "mostly" take the live enemies out of the mode, but not take them "completely" out of the mode.
In practice I see the live players very seldom anymore. Although when I do it's just as a much a deal-breaker as it was before. I'll quit that match in less time than it takes to say, "Oh hell no."
In the mean time, if anyone can explain to me the rationale behind the "mostly/completely" thing then I sure would love to hear it.
The rationale is that Streamers want easy kills for streams to market the game.
Cynical me says, yeah. But also, I have a hard time imagining anyone streaming a bot royale match, much less anyone being willing to watch someone streaming a bot royale match. Those matches would have to be, from a spectating standpoint, the most boring form of the game imaginable.
It's easy to cut the boring parts with a live assistant. Of of the few streamer friends I know does so with just a helper.
And, if they want clips for shorts, with the zoomed in and cropped look, it looks perfect to make them look awesome.
