@twitchSeriel_FPS You need to get to D3 to enter the next tier but it will still be mixed just not as often. It's to prevent people being stuck in a rank they can't drop from, apparently.
@DarthValtrex Always said i would much rather wait 5-10 mins to have a reasonably competent team cause if i'm climbing diamond with gold or plat randoms frequently then i just won't play ranked.
Longer q times would be alright for teammates on your level by far. I promise you master players wouldn't like it if a scrub like me was dragging their squads down, i feel the same about plats

@twitchSeriel_FPSAgreed, just curious what would be ideal queue times? I guess more so, would you be willing to wait 10+ minutes for a match in Ranked? If waiting that long meant you were matched with other players of similar rank?
At diamond what would be the lowest you want to go rank wise in terms of being paired with? Plat 1? Diamond 4? I personally think if a player can hold their rank above platinum 4, they can probably survive in Diamond. Plat 4 seems to be the divider between who can make Diamond+ and who can't.
@apostolateofDOOM your thoughts on the questions as well.- 6 years ago
@DarthValtrex As an ex OW player, I can assure you 10+ minute queues would not be ideal lol. It got to the point where I'd play maybe 3 matches before I turned the game off out of boredom. People would do the same here regardless of whether they got better teammates as a result.
3 minutes would probably be ideal but you'd still get mixed pools of ranks.
The rank population at the top end is more of an issue than folk realize I think.

@DarthValtrex In an ideal world i would like those of equal rank but if the population doesn't allow it then prioritise those that are climbing plat (plat 2+) after say 5 mins before letting those that camped through gold and hard stuck in plat enter my lobbies. They honestly might as well not be on the team.
I also think they should remove this climb from w/e 3+ to prevent those stuck in a rank as it doesn't force you to improve like it previously did.
@MandatoryIDtag I think 3-5 mins would be fine but i'm used to waiting longer from D4 up in previous series anyway. 10 mins max then throw whoever in if they must but from second to last tier is only those either dedicated to rank or reasonably skilled that make it that far and at its most stressful to climb further while ranks below can be climbed solo by good players. This might differ from PC too though as i can just tab out and wait for the icon to start flashing while amusing myself with something else.

@apostolateofDOOMYou have to keep in mind that at the top end, Predators there are only 500 of them. That means in order to fill a lobby with nothing but predators it requires 12% to be on at the same time and playing ranked at the same time. That's just to fill a single lobby... Now if they get knocked in the first round they could easily be sitting around for 20 minutes waiting on that match to finish.
It's fairly small population of players eve in Diamond-Predator you're talking 2.71% of the player population will achieve Diamond or higher. So even if they limit it to diamond-Predator you're going to have some long queue times.
And you want to talk about seeing people go AFK. Longer queue times mean they are more likely to walk away for a minute or two.
- 5 years ago@DarthValtrex I specifically call out Plat4s because normally anything above plat4s can sort of keep up, because as you mention, they can probably make it to diamond if they grind enough. I would much rather take plat3s, The skill difference is typically very noticeable.
