why is aim assist still a thing

That's not aim assist. That's a PC cheat.
I could do that for easier play too, if I reinstalled on PC and hated myself.
The sheer number of PC cheats is part of why I uninstalled from PC and when I rarely play, it's on PS4.
Sadly, they will not let me go back into the part of settings that turns off crossplay so I never have to deal with PC cheaters again.
At the end of day, calls to nerf aim assist are simply excuses to getting outplayed and outgunned.
Getting aim assist removed from controller would require the entire industry to follow. Sorry, won't happen. The six of you here don't spend enough money for them to risk turning away millions of customers. Fun thought though.

It might be shocking news to you, but apex is not as big as you think, so please don’t end up in the false believe the whole industry would focus on pulling in casuals when the reality is that just a handful of br games do it and actually the most competitive shooters wich are also the biggest don’t have aimassist, not even controller support. Surprised ? What a shocker that when you screw with your competitive integrity then many people also aren’t that interested in watching/playing that competitive game…
That’s why games like csgo and valorant are much bigger than apex, you seem to not realize how many people actually are turned away by the existence of aimassist…
Aimassist only exists to pull in casuals and controllerplayers.
And yet even when doing that the game is barely as big as pubg wich is quite interesting considering that pubg has controlöersupport without aimassist.
I btw play apex with controller and abuse aimassist myself. Apex is just not a competitive aim focused shooter, I accepted it.@matzesingtThen you would have no issues separating lobbies by input device. Problem solved for everyone. Time to move on.

Are we discussing this again? I btw solved it for EA. I solved PC hackers, like my Horizon teammate on TDM last I played, who half-magged people with CAR from across the map. Plus this whole MnK thing.
Turn the game over to EA Vancouver. They've succeeded in not releasing NHL on PC since NHL '09, and that series is still doing fine. Best sports game series available.
No Apex on PC, basically all problems solved. And then you don't even have to spend any time removing the PC people from my Mixtape lobby. Which apparently is a huge and time consuming thing to do, as nothing's still been done. 🤡

@DankToliet This is the W argument from both sides. Instead of all of us screaming past one another, just divide lobbies by input. You roller players can get our PC nerds that want a roller plugged in to a $2k PC to get aim assist and 200 fps. And we will take all those nasty PC cheaters. DEAL!
- @DankToliet No, we do not want PC controller players in console lobbies. If you have never played in a PC lobby you will not understand. The blatant cheating is way worse. Then you have people with triple or quadruple your frame rate. And then you have the steam ones cfg settings that allow full tap strafing. Warzone used input for lobbies and it was horrible.

Apex beeing much bigger than pubg is just wishful thinking there is no data to confirm that claim. On steam they are equal in numbers. - @hayhor I'm pretty sure SONY, as the only company, offer "crossplay off" on Warzone. Don't know if it's a joke like on Apex, but it should be there.
@matzesingtYou took that out of context. Clearly MnK have won the majority of the ALGS, and other major e sport titles. Just because a handful have RECENTLY won doesn't mean it needs to be nerfed to the ground.

Cs has approx a unique playerbase of about 2.700.000 per dayi don’t know why people think apex would be such a massive title pn consoles, in reality it’s much bigger on pc and stat trackers have decent ways of proving it.

maybw one day soni etc will bring something out that actually can compete with the accuracy of a mouse.and no gaming keyboards/mouses are not designed to write letters. They are designed to game with.
to say that the base invention was for that intention might be true but consoles didn’t even exist when pc gaming came to life.
if anything you should be happy pc gaming evolved because without it most iconic titles wouldn’t even exist and we would mostlikely look at a completely type of gaming nowadays. Mostlikely like 10 years behind where we are now, because games like doom duke nukem half life and so on did change gaming forever.
i could even go further and say that controllers/consoles are designed for casual gaming wich they actually are but I know it will trigger some controller protectors 🙂
