@Zero-Loot5 I'll happily accept that, there certainly is a difference between mindsets. However as baldy said, you can't change people's mindsets.
Let's try a hypothetical scenario here, respawn reduce audio distance for gunfire and entirely remove mobility tacticals/ults. Now everybody would have to sprint/jump tower around the map so even if they hear gunfire they then have to make it to said fight.
Simple solution right? Now Let's say a squad of players with extensive knowledge of the map, rotations and drop trends decides "hey Let's go and 3rd party some squads" they can literally just loot preempt and position themselves favourably and then it becomes a waiting game.
It's easily done, frag/skull are both extremely good examples as you can fight both areas until you're the last squads remaining, and more often than not a 3rd squad will jump in.
I just don't see how any in game changes can really limit this substantially enough to appease the masses.
- 5 years ago@MandatoryIDtag I already explained how different mindsets matter in this issue. You even "liked" that very comment of mine. It's not the mindset that gets changed but the behavior.
As I said: players that just run around the map and actually want to fight fairly and who only 3rd party when the situation is at hand wold get less options to 3rd party cause now they no longer hear shots from miles away.
And the thing is: most 3rd parties are these "conincidental 3rd parties". Most players don't camp and wait until 2 Squads fight nearby. Most people run around the map, searching for enemies. And all these players would 3rd party less when they can no longer hear fights from miles away.
I mean your hypothetical scenario first of all does a lot of assuming and furthermore: players that are have advanced knowledge and understanding of map rotations etc. are usually more offensive players. These types of players basically never do what you describe in your hypotehtical scenario. Maybe the do it once for the LOLZ but not all the time. Rather never.
And about your last statement "I just don't see how any in game changes can really limit this substantially enough to appease the masses". It doesn't have to appease the masses. There are things that you can do and when those things are done I'm pretty sure that "the masses" will also understand that the limit to what you can do is reached in terms of limiting 3rd parties. And if they don't then that's their issue. - 5 years ago
We're still seriously talking about third partying?
Play Arenas. That's all, that's it.
If you don't like third partying, play games with 2 teams. This is not a Respawn problem.
- hayhor5 years agoHero@KelRiever It is funny right. It is this thread that explains to me the thinking people have that when 3 teams are left, attack another team, inevitably killing both of them because the last team just has to clean up. Awareness should be part of the skill of this game.
@hayhor Easier to alter the game so awareness isn't required apperently lol. :,)
@MandatoryIDtag Yes, this too.
I mean, my solution is the solution Respawn made, called Arenas. You happen to need awareness there too but you won't ever be 'third partied' So I have to believe this thread is just so people can be angry online. Especially since the OP is 5+ months old.
But, yeah, uh, awareness is actually part of a Battle Royale game, go figure? The challenge of it, to me, it part of the entire appeal, such as moving and looting and other things besides shooting (which is also fun).
Apparently, however, when all these things go wrong, it is apparently a problem for the game. Despite being a Battle Royale, we should all just stay put, be loaded with loot, and shoot only one team at a time down a narrow street. Then we get reloaded and healed and face the next team, and as long as enemy weapons can do us the favor of not doing damage while our weapons do lots, we can call ourselves champions and be Apex tier and somehow be proud of ourselves.
Anyway, there is Apex Legends Arena, like I said 😉

Third partying happens in high plat / diamond+ so people who are against lowering gunshot volume should state their rank before commenting thanks
- 5 years ago@KelRiever 3rd partying is problem for one reason.
Because the sounds suck, you can't hear anyone coming close, because the game has no audios apparently other than hearing enemy shoot with p2020 from 1km away while you are getting no audio peacekeepered to your back.
The sounds are joke, if you had played the game in pre-season you would know what people are talking about. - 5 years ago
@KarvaRausku it wasn't even that bad up until S3, S4 is when the real nosedive in audio quality began as far as i'm concerned. 5 seasons of sketchy audio has gotten pretty tiresome to be honest.
I mean hell it can even be a problem if you're not being third partied, the amount of times I've been silently rolled by a team flanking via a silent zipline is actually beyond a joke.
- 5 years ago@MandatoryIDtag That is precisely my point. Even when there's no gun fight going on and you should be able to hear enemies running towards you, using ziplines, using wraith portals, using ulties etc. There's no sounds for them at all!
Like it all gets sucked into horizons graviton ult that was used 5 weeks ago somehow.
In s3 it was so bad, that I rather played the game with no audio at all since audio were so screwed. You heard the enemy was running behind you, you turned around and it turns out that the enemy was running front of you below and now he had free shot on you....
And they claimed on twitter that the audio works just as just intended.
Which seems like they have no idea how the audio or the game itself works and they just gave up.
