Uninstalling and reinstalling the game did nothing for me still had high load on both gpu and cpu.
It's not a windows update causing these issues.
It is the Apex patch, it's a known issue and they are working on it.
However there is no ETA more than "in a future patch".

Could you try the following steps?
Zeel's Troubleshooting Guide
I'm still troubleshooting this issue but there is a patch coming in the future.- 6 years ago
Download Afterburner and cap fps to 120 this has stopped it for me.
Not tried capping at other fps.

Possible fix to try especially for 9700K users with 100% CPU Usage and freezing.
This is also happening to me on an RTX 2080 and an Intel i7-9700K on my ASUS ROG STRIX GL12CX. I'm running Windows 10 Home version 20H2 and after looking through reports in the forums I found tweaks/settings that has helped me reduce the frequency of the freezes. Doing the following also reduces CPU Usage during gameplay. The first thing I did was to disable something in Windows called Hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling. You can find this in newer versions of Windows 10 by right clicking on the desktop and selecting "Display Settings". Scroll to the bottom and select "Graphics settings". Select the toggle to "Off" and it usually asks you to restart your computer. The next setting I turned off is the "Game Mode" which you can find by going into "Settings" > "Gaming" > "Game Mode" on the left hand side. The third setting I turned off is "Background recording". This can be found in "Settings" > "Gaming" > "Captures" on the left hand side > "Record in the background while I'm playing a game". The last tweak that I made for Apex is to set "Launch Options" with +fps_max 144. I play on a 240Hz monitor and doing this significantly reduces CPU usage and prolongs gameplay reducing the chance of freezing. I've tried having the setting on NVIDIA's control panel to set max FPS to 144 but that doesn't reduce CPU usage as much as having this command in Steam's launch options. I believe it works the same in Origin's launcher. The downside is that since it's capped to 144 it feels kinda awkward. I don't know if it's input lag or doing this introduces some sort of latency or visible tearing but doing all of this I was able to play for a long while and haven't frozen yet. I had to adjust to it feeling different. Without these tweaks, I would freeze once or twice per game during anything. Hope this helps some of us until the Apex team fixes this issue in its entirety.
