Apex friend appears offline while he's online

None of my friends appear online while my friend is literally sitting next to me and I see his open Apex screen. I can even see that he is playing a ranked match but I cannot invite him and vice versa. Sometimes we could tackle it by him restarting his PC but it takes too much time.
