I tried this but it didn't work, then I restarted a few times and changed the USB port that my headset was plugged into and it worked. Not sure if this is a fix but I think you should try this just in case it works.

@Wynteriscoming1Changing the USB worked. I didn't even have to restart
Edit: It worked only for that one instance. Now I'm back to the same problem
My fix so far as I type this is to go to your speakers' device settings in sound and uncheck the exclusive setting or else you won't be able to hear any game you play or any UAC alert.

My fix was the exclusive control being unchecked as shown in the pic below. The file could be corrupted too. It's best to try both in case
