Apex Legends doesn't recognize microphone

Apex legend's doesn't recognize my microphone, happening always even in the settings menu.

Tried uninstalling and installing the game, and origin. Clearing cache, running as an administrator, checking privacy settings in windows 10.

Attached is an example without the speaker symbol besides my name.

  • @sniqoo Would suggest checking windows audio config.. Make sure the audio input is recognized and the standard audio input is the audio device for record that ur using and ofcourse mic sound level
  • My (multiple) microphones work in literally every other application, but for some reason Apex won't pick up any microphone that I try using- even bluetooth headphones, or the microphone from an attached USB webcam.

    I've tried everything, in every thread I can find: using the troubleshooter and re-configuring the mic, making sure the mic is set to system default, manually setting the desired mic in the application's sound preferences, confirming the privacy settings are allowing the microphones use in game, reinstalling the game as well as origin, disabling/enabling all audio enhancements, enabling/disabling the ability for other applications to control the input device, and still the microphone will not work.

    I'm a very experienced audio engineer who's worked for major music labels, and a industry veteran in game development, and I'm literally dumbfounded that so many people can have this problem, with so many non-concrete / varying solutions. This has been an issue for months, and so I decided to abandon the use of in game voice, and then eventually the game.

    After seeing ads for the game coming to Steam, as well as other platforms, I decided to hop back in to the new season- but am still having the same mic issues. I figured I'd post here, in case I can find a solution to the issue- before my expectation, that uninstalling Origin and using Steam will completely solve the situation.

    My mic is being recognized by OBS, Valorant, and Discord. I only have a problem with it with comms inside the apex legends.

    Hi all,

    When you have the chance would you be able to post a DxDiag so we can take a look? For more info on how to pull one up check out the EA Help website

    Once you have the file please attach it to this thread. Thanks!

    /Kent

  • @EA_Kent The DxDiag will just show you the installed devices, their specifications, along with a lot of other information I don't want publicly shared - which won't solve the problem that the game won't recognize any default sound device I set, regardless of if its an inbound microphone using an audio interface, a bluetooth headset, or a usb webcam mic.

    @sniqoo

    Thanks! I appreciate that.

    What type of mic are you using? Is it connected via USB, or does it use a 3.5mm input?
