If you want to reconsider your opinion on spatial audio here's a link where people prefer the default stereo over surround (another game)

The only advice i can give is to use high quality headphones that cup your ears and not earbuds.. If you want to use dolby atmos/windows sonic the only real reason you need that is if you have a speaker setup (5.1/7.1)
There are several binaural video's (while using stereo headphones) that you almost think you are there because the sound is recorded in such a way that it gives you this illusion..
Apex legends has a great spatial audio design imo, one of the best in the business..
In this file:
Saved Games\Respawn\Apex\local\settings.cfg
You have a value that you can change:
sound_num_speakers
Default value of this is 2 (stereo).. I havent tried changing this value but you can try changing it to the value 8 (if it doesnt work just put the default value again)
@Konform103Yes, I am sure. I just verified. 🙂
I used to use the default stereo implementation in Apex, but the implementation doesn't replicate sounds above/below you as a player as well as the Dolby Atmos implementation does. I switched to Dolby Atmos and have much better spatial awareness in ranked now. See: https://www.reddit.com/r/apexlegends/comments/b6cmev/psa_if_youre_on_pc_and_use_a_headset_make_sure/
And I modified settings.cfg specifically to get spatial audio support in Apex.
For some reason Apex decides to change what audio settings I want to use every time I start the game. It's very frustrating when all other games that support surround sound don't do this. They simply just recognize that the machine is able to receive surround sound on 7.1 channels and roll with it with no issues.
