Apex Legends PC crash on open

Hi I've been having an issue today.

Today I was happily playing Apex, I have over 50 hours ingame no issues. Then today my game crashed and I havent been able to get back since.

Whats happening is:

Double click launch Apex,

Black screen,

Desktop resolution is forced to 640x480 60hz,

Apex Legends is not responding,

Close Apex and main monitor is still on 640x480.

If I try open Apex after its changed to 640x480 it opens,

I cant change my resolution ingame from 1280x720.

If I change my desktop resolution from 480p to 1080p it force closes the game "Apex Legends not responding"

*In the image attached it shows what happens, left of the white line is my secondary monitor and right is what happens to my primary monitor.*

What I have tried:

Updating my drivers from 418.81 to 418.91

Updating my windows

Restarting PC

Reinstalling Apex

Deleting Apex folders and repairing

Turning off shadowplay and other game overlays

Running only 1 monitor

Other games like PUBG/CSGO/Spellbreak/Ring of Elysium still work.

PC Specs:

i7 8700k

GTX1080Ti

32GB 3200mhz RAM

I'm not sure what else to try.

Thanks,

eDGe.

  • The settings folder:
    C:\Users\(*Your Useraccount*)\Saved Games\Respawn\
Can you move the folder Apex to your recycle bin and try to start up..
If it doesnt work restore it from the bin
  • Have you been installing other games or software lately? If so check this configuration of visual C++

i just installed apex today and whenever i try to open it it gives me an error of engine file not found do u know what should i do?

  • I havent got that error (i got some other ones which i fixed) have you tried repairing the game from origin?
  • Still no solution, only success ive found is I have to uninstall my nvidia drivers and reinstall. It works until I have to restart my PC and it happens again.

Not really keen on reinstalling my nvidia every day.
