apex legends rtx 3070 ti frame drops

I just upgraded my PC with i5 10400f and rtx 3070 ti. But I am getting even worst FPS than my old gtx 1050 ti. My gpu is around 50-60% utilization with CPU hovering 10% below that. No matter what graphic settings I try, it’ll remain the same, from bare minimum to max setting. I did everything including power management to Nvidia control panel settings, also the game instructions to unlock FPS, but no use. Here’s the strange thing, I get amazing around 180 fps on max settings in training as well as arena. It’s just bugged in BR mode. How am I suppose to solve this? Is it because rtx 3070 ti specific because this card is apparently a taboo for gamers for some reason.

  • @LightningGodZeusIf you're sure it isn't CPU related since a lot of people with intel CPU's claim the game is using 100% CPU. Then I would recommend reinstalling drivers, and making sure in the NVIDIA control panel you're set to default and to "Use advanced 3d image settings" under 3D settings. I have a 3060ti without an issue.

Also. There are frame rate issues in this game depending on area you're in. This has happened even with another card I had. Especially if you're on max, you will likely experience issues with frame-drops, mostly in areas with a lot of grass etc. I believe this is a game engine issue. Also, I'm sure the 1050ti wasn't on max. If you use the same settings you will likely get better performance.

  • There are people using the same cpu and getting good fps in BR. I have updated my graphic drivers and reinstalled the game. Nothing seems to work. My GPU is not thermal throttling as it's around 75°. And getting same fps on both low and max settings is clearly not an issue of hardware. My cpu never reaches 100%. It's maxes out to 75-80 average, 83% (individual core ³).

  • I had graphic issues when I upgraded to a 3070 back in November.  I Tried everything could not fix it.  Found out that the 3070 came faulty from the manufacturer.  I sent it to them they confirmed with bench mark tests that it was indeed a faulty card and sent a new one (just had to pay shipping).  You can do bench mark tests for the GPU yourself and determine if the card is bad.  I am sure you still have a warranty just return it to the vendor for a refund or a new card.

  • Look at the image, no thermal throttling no bottlenecking lowest graphic settings on i5 10400f rtx 3070ti, my 1050ti performed better than this. I did a clean install using Display driver uninstaller in safe mode with internet disconnected. There's no way this is happening because of hardware.

@LightningGodZeus As to the nature of a faulty card. If you don't experience a lot of errors, crashing, artifacts, temperatures issues. It's very unlikely your card is faulty. I have never ran into a graphics card that is underpowered if all the specs checkout. Also, if you're saying in-game in any situation you don't reach 90 or 100% GPU usage at any point in time that would be a strange issue I will speculate on later. But if you do, then it is the game engine or driver that is the likely cause. I can see players with a 3070ti in-game reaching about 100% GPU 1440P high settings with that card, but those players have a PCI 4.0 CPU, maybe GPU usage with the 3070ti having PCI 3.0 vs 4.0 is more pronounced. You could go into your bios to make sure it is set to PCI 3.0, so you get the highest performance. Things that tend to limit performance are settings like V-sync settings or frame-rate limit options in another program you may be running. You can set "+fps_max unlimited" in the launch options. But you may experience stuttering if your frame-rate is too high. Also make sure your GPU is in the correct PCI EXPRESS X16 slot. You could have it in a slower slot of the same size causing performance issues. Other than all those issues you have to check your game and GPU settings etc. We can only speculate and go back and forth. But it is easier on your end.

@LightningGodZeus I have the same problem, in every other game I reach maximum FPS and in FurMark Benchmark I also cut off with 190FPS, also used the 3070? Have you found a solution so far?
  • 1st id Update my BIOS,try that for you for your MOBO. 2nd make sure you are on dual channel ramm, with XMP on in bios. 3rd Make sure your GPU is getting Enough power Via you PSU. 850 rec for 3070tis.
