Apex Legends Update Delayed to Downlaod

Console: PS4

Issue: I’ve noticed that for the past several updates to the Apex Legends game in my PS4 that it won’t actually download the update until after I open the game and run it. Only then will it tell me that there is a new update available for the game.

My PS4 is able to download updates to other games such as Madden 20 while in rest mode without any issue. Why doesn’t Apex auto download? Do I need to delete and re-install the entire game?

Thanks for the help!

    Hey @kdubfl87

Do you have automatic updates for applications active on your PS4? If you go to your PS4 Settings and then go to System you should see the Automatic Updates section. Check and see if you have the option for Applications enabled there.

Let me know what you find out. Thanks!

  • @EA_Kent Hi Kent,

Yes, automatically download application update files Is checked and I am a PS plus member. Other applications are downloading automatically as intended. It seems to just be this game.

    Gotcha, thanks!

It is definitely weird that it's only happening with Apex Legends. I'm wondering if there's something in the console data that might be causing this. Would it be possible to try rebuilding the database on your PS4 to see if that helps at all?

First, start up your PS4 in Safe Mode. Choose the Rebuild Database option from the menu. It may take a few minutes to complete. Let me know if you're still running into the same issue afterward.
