Apex sends me back to Origin launcher when attempting to start

I was able to run the came pretty smoothly on my PC. However, up until a week ago whenever I try to load the game it immediately goes back to the Origin launcher. From a visual perspective, imagine the launcher. I hit play game on Apex and the launcher disappears, only to reappear a fraction of a second later (almost as if it just flickered). Does anyone else have this problem? I tried launching the game on other PCs with identical results. It's getting really frustrating.
