controller doesn't input correctly

I've been having trouble with setting up and connecting my controller to Apex through Steam. If I plug it in regularly and enable default Steam input, it works fine, and uses my custom look sensitivity normally. However, as soon as I enable the overlay binds I want to use in Steam, it no longer runs properly, and looks like it stutters when I try to move and look around in the Firing Range. It also disregards any custom sensitivities I put in, and even when confirming I still had them applied, nothing changed and the default sensitivity was used. I've been playing on Genburten's 500-500 sens, so this is not good for me. When trying to open the settings in-game, moving my right joystick transforms it into a mouse cursor for no apparent reason. Not sure if anyone else has had this problem, or knows of a solution?
