Directx Redist package error. OR files missing error. Real Solutions
Ok folks if you are like me you tried all the other options: moving cab files into a folder or deleting them, or turning of origin in game and still had the same stupid problem come up: directx redist package failed to install or if you get passed that part the game goes to launch then says crucial files are missing and the game must be downloaded again.
Well I figured out what was wrong with my pc.. It took a lot of hard work. You will need to set aside about 5 hours to complete this process of checking everything. hopefully this works for you.
first thing you will want to do is run directx program from the folder to see if the problem is still occurring. The folder is C:/programfiles(x86)/origingames/apex/installer/directx/redist/DXSETUP.exe
If problem still is occurring the issue can one of the following: a corrupt file in the direct x or windows registry or hard drive failure.
so this is where the time factor comes in. to check your hard drive for failure you will need to go into a safeboot. go to the run program (right click windows in the bottom left and you should be able to see the run program feature) type mysconfig. the click boot and select safeboot. once you get the computer safebooted right click the windows in the bottom left again and click powershell (admin) type the following: chkdsk C: /f /r /x
This process will take a long time!!! so do not think your computer is frozen. Once the process is completed you should know if you hard drive is bad or is having problems. It took my computer 3 hours to do this check. it turned out my hard drive was fine.
If hard drive is fine then we will need to check the windows registry. This process can be done either in safeboot or regular boot. right click the windows in the bottom left and select powershell(admin) then type the following: sfc /scannow If hard drive is not fine you will likely have to replace hard drive.
Let the computer scan and fix the registry. You computer when it is finished will provide a variety of results based on the scan. It will say no problems were found. or it will say problems were found but they were able to be fixed. or it will say problems were found and were not able to be fixed. The result will give you a log file to refer to on order to manually fix the problems. If you are really good with pcs and feel comfortable reading log file and fixing the problem manually then go right on ahead. For me I did not feel comfortable doing this.
So lastly if you did all these steps and discovered you have problems with your windows registry and the scan will not fix them you will have to reload windows if you cannot fix it manually. save all you important files on separate thumb stick or external drive. . go the windows website and download the correct version of windows 10 on ausb. reinstall windows 10 fully wipe your hard drive partition. You will have to redownload all your drivers for your motherboard video card etc. redownload the game once everything is good to go. BAM it should work.
Hopefully you do not have a bad hard drive... That costs money instead of some time out of the day. For me it was problems with my windows and directx registry.
