Barry! Thank you for laying eye's on this post!
I was afraid to respond this morning as the suggestions you made have all proved unsuccessful so far.
I have tried the direct x fix and nothing
I am running (clears throat, wait for it) Windows 7 home premium circa 2009 - yeah my pc is goated and still alive, ran the game fine though previous to this patch, although other patches have also broken my game momentarily.
These are all suggestions from a youtube video that has success in the past with this issue. Non have worked for me though.
Step 1) Update Windows
Step 2) Install Media Feature Pack: If you are using N versions of Windows: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/softw... https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/h...
Step 3) Navigate to C:/Windows/System32 and delete d3dcompiler43.dll (Copy the file save it somewhere as a backup) Now visit this Microsoft link to DirectX End-User Runtime Web Installer to install missing files: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/downl...
Step 4) Microsoft .NET Framework Repair Tool: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/downl...
Step 5) Install Visual C++ files from Microsoft website: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/h...
Step 6) Repair the game files in Origin
10% left on another reinstall so I will see how this goes for now.
Including an uninstall and re-install. Including a new Steam install.
Gave up and finally dropped Windows 7. It worked once I changed to Win 10.
Sad. Win7 has been years and years of faff-free service.
Respawn need to update their requirements. And maybe test their requirements before an update and actually tell the community.
