Game is unplayable due to Desync/Prediction Error

Hi,

My issue is that the game starts desyncing me whenever too many things are happening at once. It could be 2+ people shooting me at once, a care package dropping, an octane stims while shooting me, etc. I'd say there's a 90% chance for it to happen if too many things are happening at once. It's usually followed up with the prediction error symbol appearing in the top right. This clip has 3 examples: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nend49PKKDY. In the 1st clip, I am so desynced that my cross hair moves unnaturally by continuing to move downward when I already had touched the ground and it took time to fully adjust back to normal. In the 2nd clip, two people shoot at me while 2 others fight their own fight on the roof (while a thermite is burning) and that causes me to simultaneously explode and get massive flinch for that brief moment. And the 3rd clip is just to show that it can happen even when it's just a single person shooting at me. A thing to note about these clips, I took them before I recently upgraded my hardware (not because of this issue) so it is definitely not my pc hardware (CPU and GPU). It's interesting that this is still an issue after upgrading them.

As you can see, the game is unplayable. I get extreme flinch, my shots stop counting, and I get shot at in spots that I'm not in or just explode. I have tried a lot of things to try to fix this issue.
If I list them here individually, it'd make this post extremely long. In an attempt to sum it up: I updated and reinstalled my drivers/Windows, troubleshooted my internet (router, ethernet cables, and modem), called my ISP to check the connection, tried things like Port Forwarding, used different DNS servers, maxed out Transmit/Receive buffers, tested a different set of RAM, used a WiFi USB stick (have ethernet), used a VPN, used Cloud Flare's internet speed test to verify latency/packet loss/jitter, etc.

The game is currently on my NVMe SSD so I don't think it's caused by a memory speed limitation. It happens on both Steam and Origin (now EA app). This isn't just limited to one server either. My old specs are: CPU - 3600x & GPU - 1660 super. My new specs are: CPU - 5800X3D & GPU - 6950 XT. My RAM: 16x2 gigs DDR4 3600 MHz. After all this, I'm assuming it's just the apex servers being terrible in general. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Update: Here's another clip where it might be easier to see: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5H68i-7CRKc

  • The fourth clip you definitely had some desync / lag issue.

    First 3 I'm not convinced.

Yeah it's usually hard to get a good clip that shows lag without a shadow of a doubt. If you were able to play on my pc you'd definitely feel it constantly, but being able to show it is a different story. Playing with this type of lag is not fun at all either so I'm not gonna have that many clips to work with.

  • @fataIshots If you slow down the first 3 clips most of the shots missed on aim punch / just missing while they're strafing. And as far as I could tell, the bullets you did hit were registered very quickly.
In the fourth clip some of the reg seemed to happen later.

@Ranked_Ape_4yeah that’s what I mean. Those clips aren’t perfect. My aim isn’t either. They were just good examples of different forms of the same lag. It’s not really possible to control that type of flinch while using mnk, but the 4th clip was using roller which somehow almost manages to make that flinch playable. Also, the type of lag that I have doesn’t delay my damage, it just negates some of my shots while I’m shooting the enemy like I’m no reging.

  • @fataIshotsHey man, I have the same issue, and I have moved heaven and earth so far, guess what didn't solve it yet... trying to find the solution myself.

I own a Ryzen 9 5950 with 3080 RTX. This should not happen but it does, I am on a Fiber Connection at home 2 GBPS yes, I download with GB's per bloody second, however still have this issue. Latency to Datacenter is 8 ms.

So why do I have it? I think it might be related to my CPU and or Mobo combination, I am uncertain. I have updated BIOS many times.
Let me try to give you some info, it will reduce it quite a bit, but still not solve it.. sometimes game has a short stutter or I feel like I'm shooting shadows and get shot through closed doors.
I have done the following, however take care BIOS can impact your PC. Make sure you are comfortable doing it, I have a dual BIOS setup, so there is recovery in place if I mess up.

Disabled following for (BIOS changes) CPU:
CPPC, CPPC preferred cores, AMD Cool & Quiet, C-States
    Disabled:
    DDR Memory Power Down

    Enabled:
    4G Decoding, Resizeable BAR, XMP
    Disabled: CSM support (UEFI mode)

The above, have helped A LOT but didn't fully solve it for me unfortunately. However significantly reduced any "miscalculations".
Below are items are tried but reverted (marked X) somethings I still have active like, Power plan settings, Enabled + Boost and StandbyList cleaner.

Other things, with X reverted, cause it didn;t make a difference for me.
Checking , controlling Temps (got watercooled pc) X
    CRU, X
    MSI Utility, X
    Intelligent Standby List Cleaner,
    Timer Resolution X
    Razer Cortex (game boost) X
Obviously updating all drivers ( Graphic, Bluetooth, Ethernet connected )
    Disabling unnecessary Windows Services
Tried DX12 and DX11, 11 seems more stable with hit rate somehow
Tried Reflex Off, Enabled, Enabled + Boost (nothing really helps)
    Tried disabling fTPM (AMD processor)
    Checking for Faulty RAM
Checking for Faulty Hard Disk (SSD)
TCPOptimizer - this did lower latency by 2ms but it felt off and didn't solve what I needed. X
Installing all latest AMD Chipset drivers
    RTSS capping
Power Lasso, removing Core 0 , boosting to -high for Apex priority X
Including I/O to high via Proces Lasso, incl Performance mode induce.
Power plan settings to High or Ultimate.
Switched ISP from ADSL to Fiber (didn';t change)

Might have missed something, but in conclusion... I am assuming the CPU is a bit of a weird one and I hope to solve the puzzle soon.

I have suffered all the same issues that everyone in this thread and tried all from moving from slow 4g connection to fiber and from ryzen 3600 to ryzen 5900x and from rx 6800 up to rtx 4090 without any means to solve the issue.  Burned huge amount of time to get things sorted out without any effective ways to improve the situation in any way.Same issues happens also with PS4 and PS5 and controller and keyboard and mice version of apex.

So far my only logical explanation to the issue is that the servers in europe are a mess not really up to the task so I am guessing that the  servers are in some virtual shitshow in some server farm and they simply do not have enough power. Why the servers are bad for you or me? Maybe just pure bad luck - for some load balancing reasons you are always put to the bad servers and that is not going to away until you a) uninstall b) do not play in european servers. The only way to get a proper gameplay is to play on New York server (closest to europe afaik) but then there is this 100ms ping.

Let me know if you can fix this issue...
