Apex Legends Crashes Every 30-60 Minutes to Desktop

I've been playing Apex Legends since launch on console and have transferred the progress to PC. I had a computer with a GeForce 3060 that I would occasionally play on with no issues. I recently upgraded to a completely new computer with a GeForce 4070 Ti Super in January (2025) and am now experiencing frequent crashes every 30-60 minutes in game. There sees to be no pattern to the crashing outside of not being every single game, but maybe every few games, and that I have never crashed in the game lobby (although I have crashed in character select 1-2 times).

When I crash, I go from normal gameplay my screen being frozen for maybe 0.5-1 second, then immediately staring at my Desktop with my game being closed. There is no error message or prompt that appears. I am able to immediately relaunch the game a few seconds later and usually rejoin my match within a minute or so. As far as I've been able to tell, I have no crash logs I've been able to find. It is worth noting that I am playing on EA and not Steam, so the file directory layout may vary.

Here is what I have tried to diagnose the issue:

  • Checked that GPU drivers were up to date (they are)
  • Checked that Windows 10 was up to date (it was)
  • Repaired Apex Legends on EA (still crashes)
  • Reinstalled Apex Legends on EA (still crashes)
  • Installed Apex Legends on Steam (still crashes in the same manner as on EA)
  • Reinstalled Windows 10 (still crashes)
  • Reseated my GPU (still crashes)
  • Reseated my RAM (still crashes)

I am having no other game that I am experiencing crashes for, nor do I have any other friends who are experiencing these crashing issues (although they all play on Steam if that makes any difference, but I still crashed while playing on Steam). I'm not sure what else to try at this point as my computer should be more than capable of running the game at any settings, but I will take any further advice on what I can try to stop this crashing issue or diagnose what is causing it.

My PC specs are as follows:

  • CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-14600KF (3.50 GHz)
  • GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Ti SUPER  (32GB)
  • RAM: G.SKILL Ripjaws S5 Series DDR5 32 GB
  • SSD: Samsung SSD 990 PRO 2TB
  • Motherboard: Gigabyte Z790 EAGLE AX
  • OS: Windows 10 Home

If anyone can throw any suggestions my way, I'd appreciate it. Thanks!

Hello i'm having the same issue even though i haven't seen a certain pattern in the crashes it could be after 6 hrs of gameplay or right after rejoining a game after a crash.
I've been looking for a similar post for the past few days couldn't find any fix either so i'm here for any further update

    My PC specs :
    CPU: Ryzen 7 7700x
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 SUPER
    RAM: G.Skill Trident Z5 DDR5 32GB
    SSD: Samsung 960 PRO 1TB
    MB: Gibabyte B650 Gaming X AX V2
    OS: Windows 11

Will keep searching and will notify if i come across something helpful.
    Thanks in advance

  • Just now for the first time I crashed in Apex in the lobby itself. I opened the game and noticed most of the top tabs were inaccessible and my currencies were "loading" (similar to when you use crafting metals to buy an item). I went to start matchmaking after seeing this for like 40 seconds without anything changing, and then 5 seconds later my game crashed. I reopened it and everything opened like normal with no loading currencies.

So unless this crash was for a different reason, I guess it is not limited to just in-game.

I have absolutely the same problem, with one difference and thats what Morplicaitor before talked about. I dont see pattern in those crashes, sometimes it happen after 30 mins and sometimes after hours of gameplay. It just suddenly freeze for 1 sec and than as u said im staring at the home screen without any error message.
Also trying to find some fix for this. If u find anything helpful i would be really thankful, because with this its unplayable.

yep same i can play between 40 min  to an hour then crash no error this started about 3 weeks ago before that same computer played for 3k hours no crashing . Now I have fixed this by going back to DX11 .

Using the EA app , type this on the launch options -anticheat_settings=SettingsDX11.json

You can also change the Launch options without any command on steam just put Play Apex Legends(Directx 11) even tho i'm still on dx12
Update: I've been playing normally for 2 days all i did was to deleted Respawn folder in a Saved Games file
    Verify Integrity of game files
Never alt tab and don't open and other app except discord

But today my pc restarted altogether so i'm guessing it's an issue with my PC most likely i'm gonna resort to a full format and update motherboard and optimize bios

MorplicaitorxTrinity3000xtlak1548FireballXanderDid y'all fix the issue? I'm currently crashing the same way you guys do. Since they made DX12 standard last season the game crashes every 30-60 minutes. Then I switched to DX11 and it was all fine but the DX11 support ends so I was forced to use DX12 again and it still crashes. This is very annoying and I would like to know, what the issue is because this is unplayable.
