HIGH CPU TEMPS WITH APEX SINCE MAY 13TH

Stuttering in lobby, get into match, temps on PC/CPU spike to 84-90c+, hover around there the entirety of the match. Never drops back down til game closed; never happened before - temps before 30mb patch update on Steam around May 12th would hover around 68-70c on CPU. Never had to change settings in game before now. Lowered different CPU/GPU affecting settings (shadows, ragdolls, etc) and no change. Still hits 84c- 90c+. Fans are working, surrounding area is cool. Updated GPU, validated files on Steam. After updating the GPU it got worse with the temps on CPU. Closed everything down but Apex, still high temps. Been playing Apex for 4 years, never had it spike and stay high like this. CPU should be around 65-70c. Examples: I can play other CPU heavy games and they never spike past 75c. Only Apex is doing this with 84-90c. I'm not sure how to find the issue yourselves but. I just know it started after the patch update on Steam a week after season launch.

(Submitting this issue for a friend who is unsure how to maneuver the forums.)
Can confirm his PC CPU sits at 46c idle with nothing open but desktop. He can play things like Borderlands 3 and Cyberpunk 2077, high end games that are CPU intensive and only hits 75c.
Screenshots provided of Settings and a Speccy screenshot when in match of the spiked temp.
DxDiag also provided from his PC in the files.

  • Since all this has been going on... the highest temp it has gotten to was 95C and stayed in the 90s the whole time he had the game launched.

The following has been attempted to try to get the temps back to normal:

Full Uninstall/clean up of files + reinstall on steam.
Validation of files on Steam = showed perfectly normal.
    Update of Windows
Turned off Game Mode setting in Windows
Nvidia Update completed = graphics card is up to date.
Lowered settings in game to absolute lowest on everything, disabling some settings. Temps still spike.

My friend has not been able to play the game whatsoever since May 11th. We played a couple of days before that for the first part of the season but that one minuscule patch 30mb patch around May 10th into the 11th on Steam caused his game to spike temps horrifically.

I patiently await your response, EA.

Anyone at EA or RSPN? Seriously? 2 weeks? No response? Nothing?? and it's still doing it, even while adding a new JSON to the properties that someone on a reddit said to, nothing works. It's still hitting over 95C...

  • @ZeMooKhajiit APEX has always had an unusually high processing load compared to other games, and CPU temperatures often jump.
However, in your case, the problem is probably on the PC side.
Either the CPU fan is not functioning well, or the CPU grease has dried out and is no longer making sense.
Since no other similar symptoms have been reported, it is natural to assume that the cause is in your environment.

It makes no sense because it doesn't go over 75C with anything else. Only Apex.
It sits cool, the fans are working, he had the thermal paste replaced mid-last year and his entire PC serviced to ensure the CPU and everything was working fine. Even has it sitting in a cool room with fans on near it.

It only. does. the. increase. in. temps. with. Apex.

13 seasons and never had to change any settings. he lowered the settings and it only made it worse. Explain that one?

Mayhaps the CPU optimizations they have planned for the June 25th update will help things out.
