High gpu temp ( 2080ti )

Hello,

I've tried to search for an answer but haven't managed to find a fix. I have an i7 6700k, rtx 2080ti setup. I have the latest nvidia drivers and lastest windows update. When I play apex legends the gpu starts getting at 81 Celsius temp and the fans go crazy. I tried lowering settings but nothing. I tried using +fps_max 144 launch setting but still the same. The gpu starts getting hot even when I am idle on the main menu, not playing.

I haven't played for some months but I don't remember this happening in the past. Maybe nvidia drivers broke it?

Is there something else I could try to maybe fix it?

Thank you

    Hey @leokoudo

    Are you using any sort of GPU management software like MSI Afterburner or Rivatuner? Have you made any changes to your GPU clock speeds?

    @leokoudo

    Got it, thanks!

    What happens if you start up your PC in a Clean Boot before you launch Apex Legends? If there's something else running that might be causing the high temperatures that may help get around it.

    For more details on how you can set one up check out the EA Help website. Let me know how that goes when you can.

  • Is that a founders card? When it is running full tilt with no restriction, that is normal. I had the same issues on mine. I ended up going full custom water cooling loop to get the temps down.

  • Have you tried taking your GPU off and cleaning it with compressed air just incase there is large amount of dust in the heatsinks. This might be more of a issue with peoples who smoke cigarettes inside but that's where i would look into first.

    Then i would make sure i have no things like GPU boost 4.0 or such accidentally on

    Also does this happen if you leave your case cover open

  • @tziiware Thanks for the tip. I will try cleaning my gpu. But wouldn't I have problem with all the other games I play? I got this problem only with Apex so far. CoD, Witcher, Dota, Starcraft, PUBG etc don't cause my gpu to overheat
