Kezorhal The friends list is a bit weird as it would show the username for the same platform you're playing on, (but would also show another username, (if different), as "online", when the friend is playing on another platform).
However, if the friend doesn't have the same platform account type linked to their EA Account, (such as an Xbox Account), they will show up by their EA ID instead.
For example, I have Steam, PlayStation, Xbox, and Switch all linked to my EA Account, however, from my friend's perspective, (while I'm not online), they only see my by my EA ID:
As soon as I login on my Switch, they suddenly see two friends on their friends list, (with the one that's "online" being my Switch Account):
If you open up a friend's profile, you will be able to see all of their connected accounts, (as well as the username they're currently playing as):
Use this profile inspect feature to see if the friend in question is showing up as a different username in your friends list.
Note: Since this was an example, I had hidden my usernames.
