I can't add my friend on a different platform in Apex Legends

I am on PC and I play apex on Origin, my friend, who is on Xbox, added me and I show up on his friends list but he doesn't show up on my friends list. He is unable to join me and this is very confusing, I am able to add other friends and I have but I just can't add this specific friend. Any help on this situation would be helpful.

@notgudatthis Do you allow crossplay in your settings?

I have crossplay settings enabled in Apex Legends, is there another setting in Origin maybe? I can also join and play with my other friends on Xbox it's just one player that I can't play with.
